Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumAgain this morning on MSNBC...someone promoted the meme on Biden
"that there is no enthusiasm" I felt like saying, "deny the facts if you must ,but there is a solid base to the Biden campaign that anyone left or right would want". That is why he is always in the lead for the most part...... and pretty far ahead..
I think everyone is pretty enthusiastic about who they are supporting. It really does grind their gears though (some in the media), that VP Biden cannot be stopped. Even the Trump has been kneecapped by Biden.

Creating controversy where none exists, sensationalizing the mundane, and ignoring many very real stories of consequence. Also, after 9/11, they started over using the "Breaking News" banner. Now a normal news story is "Breaking News". They've gotten lazy, redundant, and predictable.
Of course, there are exceptions, but not nearly enough.

(5,231 posts)all the time, but think it's time to bring in new commentators. Think viewers need a fresh perspective on whats going on in DC and the nation. Eugene, Chuck and Barbara and Joyce and the myriad Post and Times reporters are beginning to repeat themselves. How about bringing informed people from news outlets around the country to inform viewers? At least once in a while.

(47,539 posts)does bring in real experts though. Former states attorneys, prosecutors, state department officials, CIA, and FBI. They tend to be very informative, much more so than the mainstream pundits that often dominate the news. Also, they bring on people involved in Watergate, which is very helpful.
I agree that a lot of the panels are rather stale and often redundant and even the "experts" get a bit old after awhile. Still light years ahead of CNN.

(2,657 posts)This is especially true if people want a certain idea to be true. I am enthusiastic about Biden, and so is every Biden supporter I know. Biden replacing Trump? There is major enthusiasm for that. A lot of us Biden supporters are a bit older, so we don't don't all jump up and down and make a lot of noise for our candidate. However, the Biden supporters that I know think that he would make an awesome President, just as Barack Obama was an awesome President, and we are very enthusiastic about both getting Biden in and getting Trump out.
Also, if we Biden supporters are not as vocal as others, there is another reason. When Biden first announced, he was way ahead of the pack. That meant that all of the roughly 23 other candidates figured on making him a target because they figured if they tarnished him, his votes would have to go somewhere. So, anytime I posted something pro Biden, I ran the risk of someone being less than totally polite and civil telling me what an evil monster Biden is. That can get old pretty fast. I am sure the Bernie people saw a lot of that too, as did the Hillary people. For some reason, many people seem to think that if they scream at you, then they will convince you that your candidate is bad. I have found the opposite to be true. I find people tend to dig in when people disparage their candidate. If you really want to convince somebody of something, first find out why they believe as they do, then reasonable discuss it with them. The book "How To Win Friends And Influence People" taught me this slogan:
Those who are convinced against their will, are of the same opinion still.
It means that if you scream at someone and put lots of pressure on someone in order to try and get him or her to change his or her mind about something, he or she will often change his or her mind briefly...until you walk away, then he or she will tend to change his or her mind back to whatever it was before. Noone likes to be pressured into a decision. Most people who are Democrats will vote for the Democrat about 90% of the time, no matter who it is. The same is true of Republicans. The only way I ever get people to change their minds permanently is to first find out where they are coming from and then calmly ask them questions and also give them things to think about. I was in sales for many years and I persuaded a lot of people to buy a lot of things. I never persuaded by yelling. I persuaded people by finding out what they wanted and then showing them a solution to their problems.
On Democratic Underground, if you support a candidate and people give you a hard time just because you like a candidate, please feel free to ignore them. He or she usually has no idea if you even saw his or her snarly post, and responding to these people just tends to make them post more snarly posts. I prefer to post positive posts about Biden and also thank other Biden fans for doing the same. In general, I prefer to save my negativity for Republicans.

(108,980 posts)Does he have fewer donors? Lower average donor amounts?
It would seem that if the problem was that his donors were enthusiastic, just not wealthy, then he would have lots of tiny donations, right? Is that the case?

(108,980 posts)Joe Bidens presidential bid is not raising enough money to cover the cost of his day-to-day campaign, a surprising turn for someone who entered the race for his Democratic Partys nomination as the front-runner.
Bidens fundraising and spending numbers, which were filed by Federal Election Commission late Tuesday, calls into question whether the former Vice President can continue to lead a crowded field of candidates that includes leaders more aligned with the progressive wing of the Democratic Party. Biden retains all of the advantages of almost five decades in politics, but there is also a sense after Tuesday nights debate that rival and fellow septuagenarian Elizabeth Warren is nudging him from center stage.
Biden is hardly alone in having to dip into savings between July 1 and Sept. 30, according to the FEC reports filed late Tuesday as a dozen Democrats were debating in Westerville, Ohio. In fact, twice as many Democrats raided the kitty as broke even during the third quarter of the year, typically the toughest period of any campaigns fundraising.
Biden raised $15.7 million last quarter, spent $17.7 million and has about $9 million in the bank, according to the reports. In other words, for every $1 the campaign raised, it spent $1.12. If he continues to spend his third-quarter average of roughly $196,120 a day and continues to raise $174,904 each day, he can grind out until Election Day. But his future finances get ugly if he wants to build beyond the current footprint.
