As said above - it's phrased differently - have a beer with, charisma, whatever. It's not just a factor for women.

She must be trying to ward off criticism about her reputation for being abusive towards her staff.

Apparently no one wanted to have beers with them according to GOP propaganda. Going further back, Dukakis had the same problem though it was not articulated back then-- he was described as too robotic.

I concur with Senator Klobuchar in the sense that, today, some employ the likability yardstick more often against women as coded chauvinism.

When it is in the positive many men and women are labeled using the word likable. Just google “Biden likable.” Where shit his the fan is when men and women are on the opposite side of the spectrum. Men are often called strong, assertive, a leader. Women are often called nasty, bitch, and stuck up.
