Biden Under Fire for Telling Immigrant Rights Activist Demanding End to Deportations to 'Vote for

"gulp"

Trump'

(snip)

"You should vote for Trump," Biden repeated as Carlos Rojas, an organizer with Movimiento Cosecha, urged the former Vice President to depart from the destructive record of the Obama White House and support a moratorium on deportations.

(snip)

"Any candidate who claims to be against Trump's raids and family separations needs to commit to a full moratorium on deportations," Rojas added. "We won't accept empty promises of immigration reform, while our families are torn apart. We cannot allow history to repeat itself."

(snip)

"I do not take money from corporations," replied Biden, whose campaign last month greenlighted the creation of a super PAC organized by corporate lobbyists who serve clients in multiple major industries, including fossil fuels.

"You listen to Bernie too much, man, it's not true," added Biden, referring to rival 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.).

(snip)

The first protests began gradually, when a woman started telling Biden in Spanish that she fears being deported and wanted him to stop defending President Barack Obama’s record on deportations. A man who was translating for her then pressed Biden to say that he would end all deportations.

“In 2008, I was a volunteer for Obama because I had hope and I believed in the promises that he made to the immigrant community,” the man said. “The fact is that over those eight years, over three million people were deported and separated from their families.”

(snip)

At that point, about a half-dozen other people stood up in the crowd, started making their way to the stage and chanted, “Not one more deportation.” Biden allowed the man to come to stage and tried to engage him on whether he thinks someone who commits murder should be deported, but the chants drowned him out.

(snip)

Another pair of protesters, including S.C. progressive activist Elaine Cooper, then began yelling at Biden to reject corporate donations. Biden responded that he already does and told them to “stop listening to Bernie,” referring to Sanders.

2007 immigration bill was a bad bill, opposed by many

With regard to that 2007 immigration bill, as you may know, LULAC, the major Hispanic organization in his country, also opposed that bill as did many other Latino organizations. You know, I think it's very hard to make the case that Ted Kennedy, Barack Obama, me, La Raza, United Farmworkers, Dolores Huerta, leaders of the Latino community, would have supported a bill that actually promoted modern slavery. That was one of the many excuses used not to vote for the 2007 bill.

“If you were to be president, will you stop deportations on Day 1 through executive action?” Mr. Rojas asked.

“No,” Mr. Biden responded. “I will not stop all deportations. I will prioritize deportations only of people who have committed a felony or a serious crime, number one.”

Did anyone notice that about halfway through that video they approached each other, Biden put his hand on his shoulder, and they spoke quietly together?

And then toss in the "money from corporations" BS for good measure. The average person is unaware of the fact that NO candidate can take money from corporations. It's illegal.

Joe Biden lashes out at protesters, telling one 'you listen to Bernie too much' and another to 'vote for Trump'

Former Vice President Joe Biden lost his patience with protesters at a campaign event in Greenwood, South Carolina, on Thursday.

(snip)

As Rojas pressed Biden on immigration, and referenced related statistics from the Obama era, Biden lashed out at him and said: "You should vote for Trump."

(snip)

"I do not take money from corporations!" Biden said in response. "You listen to Bernie too much."

A super PAC was set up in support of Biden in late October. The Biden campaign initially said it would not welcome the support of a super PAC, but shifted its position as the former vice president has struggled with fundraising — particularly in the third quarter.

At least Biden never said this about immigration:

it's easy enough for a candidate can say I know what you are saying, it's wrong that families are torn apart and we are going to stop that. That's a win-win for the candidate who wins a vote and the activist who is assured that the Dem understands and cares about their plight.

One and done.

Biden was also confronted by climate activists from Friends of the Earth during the Greenwood event, which came a day after the 2020 Democratic presidential debate in Atlanta.

"Please don't take money from corporations," said a woman in the audience.

Biden does not take money from corporations, that's illegal. As for Super PACs, just about every candidate has Super PACs working for them, including Sanders.

Of course, the protestor was being rude to Biden, no matter the message.
And in his rudeness he didn't help his cause one bit. I am surprised with Biden's self-control. I would have admonished the brat for his disrespect and told him to mind his manners.

On edit, I would add that if I were his parent, I would spank him and make him apologize.

http://www.mtv.com/news/3147021/biden-tells-protester-to-vote-for-trump/

“[For Biden] to say that he’s only going to focus on criminals, when we have a system that already criminalizes our community every day because of our skin color, it is outrageous,” Rojas added. “I believe that a Democratic frontrunner like Biden should stay away from language that scapegoats the immigrant community.”

As part of their work, Moviemento Cosecha is asking prospective voters to hold candidates accountable on immigration, specifically on whether they would implement a moratorium on deportation on their first day in office. So far, only Senator Bernie Sanders has said he would; Senator Elizabeth Warren has said she would consider such a measure. And the issue is at an all-time paramount, given that the Supreme Court is currently deliberating whether the Trump administration improperly rescinded Obama-era DACA protections to new recipients.

“Very similar to how Obama provided relief from deportation for undocumented youth, any president could use their executive power to provide relief for all undocumented immigrants,” Rojas said. “I think that once that's in place, we can actually have a real conversation about a permanent solution, which includes Congress voting on a pathway to legalization for undocumented immigrants.”

“Over the last two years, we have seen people stand up for the immigrant community in levels that we haven't seen before. People are outraged because of the family separation process, because of the deaths at the border. This crisis has reached the American public in a real way,” Rojas adds. “We have been waiting on Congress to pass a comprehensive immigration bill for nearly two decades. We are waiting on presidents to take bold action on immigration.” He believes the country needs “courageous” leaders who will move on immigration reform immediately, in a way that affirms the lives of the migrants who call the country home.

I only saw one person being disrespectful to Biden. One. And that one person is the subject of all my posts. I am not aware of any expressions of approval for the belligerence of the loudmouth jerk that came from the actual families of those who have been separated or facing deportation. In fact, if you want to speculate about the the motives of the deportees, they are more likely to appreciate Biden and his efforts to get rid of Trump than the "activist's" efforts to interrupt Biden.

Nice try at deflecting (again), though.

snip)

However, some of the young Left today have gone off the deep end. Open borders with zero deportations is just one of the many crazy things they support. The other day I got scolded by a 19 year old female coworker because I told a random man to "Have a good day sir." She said "since you don't know that person, you shouldn't assume their gender."

There are other issues that I disagree with them on too, but I don't wanna offend anyone so I'll stop here.
