Andrew Yang: I Will Go on MSNBC 'After They Apologize' for Bad Coverage of My Campaign

Thought it might be helpful to include a news source, rather than just an asshole's obnoxious tweet.

Democratic presidential candidate Andrew Yang has given thumbs down to MSNBC, saying that it has not treated his campaign as they do other candidates, and he won’t appear on the network until they apologize.

“Was asked to appear on @msnbc this weekend — and told them that I’d be happy to after they apologize on-air, discuss and include our campaign consistent with our polling, and allow surrogates from our campaign as they do other candidates’. They think we need them. We don’t,” Yang tweeted Saturday.

“They’ve omitted me from their graphics 12+ times, called me John Yang on air, and given me a fraction of the speaking time over 2 debates despite my polling higher than other candidates on stage,” he continued. “At some point you have to call it.”

...

“Yang has spoken less than a candidate polling at his level would be expected to at every single debate he’s been to so far,” Business Insider reported Saturday based on Morning Consult: The New York Times data.

Background info - for anyone who hasn't noticed what MSNBC has been doing.

A Visual History of the #YangMediaBlackout

Back in June of 2019, I tweeted about the latest egregious example of MSNBC excluding Democratic Presidential candidate Andrew Yang from their ongoing coverage of the 2020 Presidential candidates. There had been previous examples, but that was the worst up to that point because they had photos of all 20 candidates who were going to be in the first debates, and instead of including Yang as one of them, they included someone who wasn't even going to be there. I then started to add each new example as a new reply, and that ongoing thread has now been covered over and over again with each new example as a source of entertaining absurdity. It's been covered by traditional media outlets like The Guardian, Vox, and The Hill. It's also been covered by new media like Ethan and Hila Klein of the H3 Podcast for their two million subscribers.

I have gotten many requests to put the entire thread in one place outside of Twitter, so this article has been created to meet that request. Each time a new example occurs, I will update the thread on Twitter, and update this page on Vocal too.

I have also made a point here of expanding on the thread in a way I can't on Twitter, by expanding the timeline with earlier examples that had occurred before I started my thread. So instead of starting in June, this timeline starts back in March...

the best or who DOES have the best shot at beating the vile, filthy traitor, you and others will support that person as if you LOVE them so everyone around you will see maybe they should vote for her or him also!

great to hear

It is too early to determine that, though right now I doubt Yang is anywhere near the top of the candidates considered most likely to beat the filthy fucking asshole in the WH.

You show me a legit poll that says he is, I support him instantly.

Doesnt have to be the DNC doing the polls, any legit poll will do. I probably should word that differently.

of candidates who had the highest margin against Trump.

The fact that so many independents and even Trump voters are supporting him is also a good sign imo.

Those familiar with the rough outlines of Andrew Yang’s business career would be forgiven for thinking he’s a savvy tech billionaire. A “serial entrepreneur” who has been dubbed “Silicon Valley’s candidate,” Yang quit a prestigious job to launch a tech startup, sold a company for millions and now runs his own nonprofit. All that’s missing from his billionaire résumé is a billionaire bank account. After reviewing Yang’s finances, Forbes estimates his fortune to be about $1 million.

That’s a tidy sum for a 44-year-old second-generation American. But it’s less than the net worth of many of the career politicians Yang is running against. And it’s miles behind his entrepreneurial rivals Michael Bennet ($15 million), John Delaney ($200 million) and Tom Steyer ($1.6 billion).

I dont care , but I thought he was supposed to be really rich?

18. That's the way he's characterized - a super rich tech bro libertarian.

He's actually none of those things. He's got some libertarian ideas, but would a libertarian insist that new parents should get paid time off? Or that we should have regulations like he describes below?

It's sad that the mass media is more intent on influencing than informing. That's the power of $$ though

His supporters have been angry about this for a while

Yang finally stands up to MSNBC and he's called a "dishonest, juvenile, whiny asswipe, and nothing more".

I seriously don't see how anyone is not seeing the difference in how he's treated. Or if they do, but don't stand up and say so - why?

It's a simple issue of basic fairness.

I'm still stunned so few are bothered. A lot of Asian people are openly saying that if this had been done to any other ethnic minority, Democrats would be up in arms. It's causing a lot of people to be upset.
