No need to freak out about it.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:

the last thing Trump wants is spending his own money. The most he did was giving loans. Don't know whether all was paid back but he's a grifter first.

asong as Trump isn't President I don't care how or anyone else does it. None of our candidates are working class.

Buying media space is not the same as buying the presidency. Even if we presume that it is far more noble to be funded by millions of individual small donors rather than a few corporations and rich people, the candidate still needs a message and policy to put out in the media s/he's buying. If the message and policy are popularity losers, the candidate will likely fail regardless of how much media s/he buys.

The true fear, I suspect, is that stupid people will be swayed by well-funded, slick, sugary ads at prime time and on outlets like facebook. A more polite argument (or fear) is that our own candidate's voice will be snuffed out. Bloomberg, like many, many others before him, will argue that using his own funds to will leave him unbeholden to anyone. Perhaps.

Alas, this is how our imperfect system works. Money talks. If we want our candidates to speak louder than "their" candidates, I suggest https://secure.actblue.com

from having to please others who might otherwise constrain. And I am including voters, too many of whom can be b(r)ought around to new opinions before the next election. This man is not only one of the 20 most wealthy people on the planet, he owns a media empire.

It’s unlikely but certainly possible. Unlike the other non-billionaire candidates he can focus on messaging instead of fund raising. That is a pretty big advantage.

Thankfully he is a shitty candidate with an uninspiring center right do nothing message.

The biggest fear I would have is if he can buy so many ads that there isn't any room for anyone else to air ads. That is what he did to Mark Green in NYC in his first race. He bought and reserved so much time there was no time left to sell to Mark even when Mark had the money.

Obviously, if he is the nominee, it will be because the rank and file voted for him.

And I'll vote for him in the GE over Trump, but I can't see myself staying in the party.
