Churchill: Andrew Yang is talking about what really matters

...

The distinction was evident in the Democratic debate Thursday. The other candidates blabbered on about millionaires and billionaires or the bad man in the White House while Yang, bless his heart, repeatedly turned the focus to families and children.

Asked about white supremacist violence, Yang talked about young men who are spiritually adrift and falling through the cracks.

"Our kids are not alright," the entrepreneur later declared, adding that we must "make it so we can look our kids in the eyes and say to them — and believe it — your country loves you, your country values you, and you will be alright."

...

Yang, best known for his universal basic income plan, also talks plenty about the finances and economy, especially the threat posed by automation. But he remembers to place work and money within the human need for meaning and connection, areas where we our society is falling woefully short.

"The problem is fundamentally one of reconstituting the means of structure, purpose and fulfillment in people's lives," Yang told Joe Rogan earlier this year. "There's a real loss of meaning for many people in this country."

I could totally be on board with Yang. I like the happy warrior approach versus the pissed off one.

I really like that he's taking on questions like meaning and connection, because I think those are the actual problem. The economy is actually really good and has been for years, but unfortunately our politics only seems to have economic language for talking about things that make us upset.

We're in the richest country in history, but people are convinced we can't pay for anything, can't help people, etc.

I wonder if he got to know Biden at all when he was working with Obama on jobs. Wouldn't surprise me.

I will support him as long as he remains a candidate. I think this is what the primary season is about. Whether or not he makes it is up to us, not polls or pundits. When the primary dust settles, we will have one candidate. I will support that candidate.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden
