"Women, for their own preservation, are trying to pull themselves together.

And it's necessary for all of humanity that they do so."

snip==================================================================================

And Men. Men are in pain too. They are thinking, wondering. What is it they want from a woman? Are they at fault? Are they perpetrating this man-woman situation? Are they oppressors?

The man is bitter.

"You lied to me," he said. (She did).

snip==================================================================================

"But in reality," he said, "If you ever loved me, or wanted me, or needed me (all of which I'm not certain was ever true), you also hated me. You hated me — just as you have hated every man in your entire life, but you didn't have the guts to tell me that. You hated me before you ever saw me, even though I was not your father, or your teacher, or your sex friend when you were 13 years old, or your husband.

You hated me not because of who I am, or what I was to you, but because I am a man. You did not deal with me as a person — as me.

You lived a lie with me, used me and played games with me — and that's a piggy thing to do."

******************************************************************************************************

Women have to do better, but men are in pain and righteously bitter.

One of the Democratic candidates actually articulated these opinions. It was years ago, but it was also the same year as he ran for governor of his state.

The politician has since distanced himself from the essay and "recanted" the point of view. Supporters give him a pass, insisting that the piece was "dark satire" or a "stream of consciousness riff".

But has he ever taken responsibility and apologized?

toward women. Sanders ignored it thru out the campaign and after, until he decided to run again and saw it would affect 2020. And the under an hour he gave his attention to the past grievances when he did have an all day conference about the issue, supposedly to address this issue. So, while his writings, showing us his perspective on women (Old bitch of a teacher) were a handful of decades ago, while he was a grown adult man, he still has issues to deal with.

he believes we should adopt for the good of all. I've never seen any indication that he particularly likes or cares about individual people or groups who selfishly insist on distracting to their special problems. That's too small for his vision.

Understanding what the various groups we divide ourselves into because of special interests want is not necessary to promoting his universalist solutions. We should all have one healthcare system available to all -- check, equality achieved (don't wonder if the same people who run gender-unequal systems and make misogynistic decisions now will get personality transplants under socialism).

Socialism (the version he used to publicly espouse) would remove much of the problem with people finding employment, we'll all be able to have a job -- check, the biggest step to equality achieved.

Big universal solutions will largely fix these nattering problems, so a wise leader will ignore the selfish, small-minded demands that distract from achieving them.

He also can't tell the difference between us and the Republicans. I think that's because his view is from so far above.

Fri Nov 29, 2019, 09:35 PM
Nov 2019

The politician in question neither apologized, nor recanted. He appears to merely claim that the essay was misinterpreted

“It was a poorly written article dealing with gender stereotypes of the period, in the sense that a lot of men have the feel to be all powerful and controlling,’’ Mr. Sanders said in an interview after a town hall event in Muscatine, Iowa.

“Women have the feeling they have to be dependent. It was very poorly written in a way I certainly would not write it now. But if you read it, what you find is that is a bad situation for both people: women shouldn’t be dependent. Men should not be oppressors. We want a society where people are equal. That was what it was about.’’

"The existence of a female candidate on the ballot did not make a significant difference, as women's voting patterns were essentially unchanged from 2012 to 2016. In every presidential election from 1996 to 2016, between 51 and 56 percent of women have voted for the Democratic candidate; in 2012, 55 percent backed Obama, and Hillary Clinton's support among women in 2016 was only slightly below that (54 percent)."
