that US citizens are being shafted each which way.

The wife and I have just returned from Royal Adelaide Hospital.
The hospital itself is 2 years old, and has state of the art equipment.
Each waiting area is equipped with coffee making equipment, and bottled water. Help yourself.

She has received her first dose of radiation treatment, for lung cancer. Three to go.

The cost? $770 for yesterday's trial run, $3,300 for today's treatment, 3 more to go.

Sounds expensive? Well, after the treatment you sign a piece of paper. All costs covered by the government.

But then, Australia doesn't maintain a large armed presence in various parts of the world, so cheap (free) health care is affordable.

while in CA a few years ago. The bill for the anti-venom serum was $250,000! When he got home no one could believe it. Fortunately he had travelers' health insurance and wasn't stuck with the bill.

The pharmacist made a suggestion but tried to warn us it would be "quite expensive."

Then she quoted a price equivalent to 11.00 USD so I just chuckled and assured her it was fine. She grinned back and said something to the effect of forgetting what we're accustomed to in America.

WASHINGTON – "That's mad!" the British woman exclaimed at learning the average price to have a baby uninsured in the United States.

(snip)

The viral video of British citizens reacting to the costs of various health care procedures in the U.S. is now being used by some American politicians as well.

(snip)

When asked how much one person thought an ambulance ride would cost, they questioned, “Is there a price for that?”

(snip)

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., tweeted that those in the U.K. should "cherish, protect, & continue investing in your healthcare system!"
