Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumAxios asks Biden why he hadn't named Warren as possible VP choice. Biden handles it perfectly.

since it explains the odd pressure Mike Allen of Axios is putting on Biden, and it shows how well Biden handles it.
Neither that Axios article nor the article about it at the Hill that I saw first
https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/473607-biden-id-add-warren-to-my-list-of-potential-vp-picks
really captures how thoughtfully and modestly Biden handles the question.

(28,086 posts)she is more valuable in the Senate where she can continue to be a thorn in the side of the 1%. If she's VP, she'll be muzzled.

(47,625 posts)She is a force to be reckoned with, we'd hate to lose her voice in the senate.
Back in 2016 when Biden was still deciding whether to run, he had a rather lengthy meeting with Warren and it was believed he would have considered her as a running mate should he jump in the race. Of course, it was all conjecture, but it was interesting that they met.

(6,283 posts).... that if Elizabeth Warren wins the presidency, whoever she chooses for the vice presidential spot will be muzzled? Or is it just Joe?

(28,086 posts)serve under. Except maybe Bush/Cheney when the VP was in charge.
It is not specific to Biden or any other candidate, it's just the role the veep plays.

(6,283 posts)Do you believe Warren would muzzle her vice president, and if that were the case, who would want to be her vice president? Personally, I don't see how anyone could accuse Barack Obama of muzzling Joe Biden for 8 years.

(28,086 posts)Please site some examples where Biden publicly broke with Obama on a any major (or minor) issue.
The question really is, why would anyone want to be anyone's vice-president?

(6,283 posts).... doesn't necessarily have to break with the president in order to be heard. Joe Biden had plenty to say, and plenty to do. He accomplished quite a bit during his tenure as vice president. He was not awarded the highest civilian honor because he sat in the corner in silence. Obama relied on Joe Biden's opinion in making a lot of important decisions. He was not "muzzled". Words mean a lot. I would hope that a President Warren would have the same respect for her vice president.
SYNONYMS FOR muzzle
5 silence, quiet, still, supress.
