Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumOkay, I'd like to know why I'm suddenly receiving contribution pleas from Bernie Sanders
Never voted for the man, never made a contribution to his campaign. I donated to Hillary Clinton in 2016 and have donated to Joe Biden this cycle.
That's it.
Yet today, I received another plea for money with the enticement that any contribution entitles the contributor to a copy of "Our Revolution."
No, thank you.
I've been sending my donations through ACTBLUE. Is there some sort of connection there because if there is I'm going to be pissed that my email address has been handed out.
Btw, I've received no donation plea from any other candidate. Biden's inquiries I expect. Bernie Sanders? Not so much.

The emails started coming while I was up for a visit to Philly and South Jersey.
Regardless of where I am, the answer is 'No Thanks.'

(10,843 posts)My query really had to do with the why or how the Sanders' campaign would have my email address. If I'd heard from all the campaigns that would be one thing. But no, beyond Joe Biden, it's just been Bernie honking for money.

Hortensis
(58,785 posts)priceless Clinton campaign data in the DNC's data storage system. Remember how indignant the staffers' famously micro-manager boss was when the DNC sanctioned him for wrongdoing?
After they were caught and he'd tried to make it go away by apologizing to the victim of the breach, he became so outraged at the injustice that he launched one of his lawsuit performances to "prove" it was they who victimized him.
The lawsuit strategy ended, as usual, after the media reported its beginning, with his quietly withdrawing the suit before the discovery phase would have required both parties to provide evidence showing crime or lack of it.

(10,843 posts)Definite possibility, Hortensis, because I was on the monthly donation plan for Hillary in '16. And yes, that breach opened up a trove of data.
The plot thickens!

(58,785 posts)to use any that was illegally obtained in public mailings, and certainly nothing through the USPS.
They initially said they only downloaded it out of curiosity, to see if it was really what they thought it was; then they realized they were completely innocent victims of the evil DNC and went on the attack. Four months later:
The claim that they never deliberately stole priceless campaign data from an opponent is, of course, given credibility by their otherwise unimpeachably ethical behaviors.

Even clowns like Colorado's Bennett (DINO by the way) is still going like he is in the running. WTF

DNC files? They do maintain voter files accessible to all campaigns .
Also I have contributed to Act Blue, which supports many Dem candidates.
This campaign I have contributed to one and only one candidate

(6,831 posts)that read she was "insulted" that I had not contributed to the DNC. I was pissed. So, I wrote them back and informed them that I was [/b]insulted that they were scolding a disabled veteran/senior citizen, who lives on a disability pension and cannot work, for failing to contribute within the 24 hour time frame they had demanded. Then I told them to stop texting me.
Then the next week, I started getting e-mail requests from AOC. I don't even live in NYC. It took FIVE tries to get un-subscribed.
What is up with this unsolicited stuff ?

(19,204 posts)I got one from the RNC about a month ago asking how I felt about the fantastic and amazing Donald J. Trump. I told them exactly what I thought about Donald J. Trump, but "fantastic and amazing" were not among the descriptors used. I did however include a donation: A nice shiny "penny for my thoughts". The GOP won't go down for a penny,
I've been voting since 1968 and have never voted for a republican. So how did I get on the RNCs shit list? Either someone is fucking with me, or it was completely random. I don't think I'll ever receive another.

(14,888 posts)It was a text message but the person addressed it to someone else (didn't lead with my name). It was to my personal cell phone. That number isn't widely available.
Call and ask where they are getting their lists.
Could be from the russians through one of the many consultants they have out there using the stolen voter registration info they grabbed, or from the gop lists they have access to.
What I found interesting was that my son got a mailer from the trump campaign. He has never contacted them, and doesn't fall into any of their demographics. But he did apply to the air force (he was turned down because at one point he had childhood asthma).
Is the trump admin accessing armed forces recruiting info to target mailers?
