Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumGabbard has sent goons after people who question her cult involvement
She grew up in the science of identity cult, attended cult schools, associates only with members of the cult, and even her so-called campaign is mostly just an operation that pours money back into the cult.
A woman in Hawaii who began investigating the leaks found herself targeted by a vicious team of enforcers.
This is absolutely not someone that the Democratic party should run for president. Forget about her vote on impeachment. Gabbard is not who she claims to be.

(1,474 posts)And has been implicated in Russian criminal activity in the United States.
It's the weirdest and most disturbing candidacy I've ever seen.
My ears perked up because she funneled half a million dollars to a gentleman who lives in a cabin in rural Washington state, not far from my home, and who appears not to have done any work for that half million dollars. He grew up in the science of identity cult. Money laundering is the official business of the cult.

(1,474 posts)But I think that because her business is money, she realizes that the support from the bots will increase her bottom line. That's my theory, but then again, I come at her from a background in new religious movements AKA cults.

(47,578 posts)There isn't necessarily a direct connection to Russia, but that she will do whatever reaps the most benefits in the long run. If this was a movie, it would probably be too far-fetched to be taken seriously. What else has this cult done?

(31,261 posts)Worships the socalled leader of the cult, a guy that has mixed Krishna and Christianity into an un-recognizable mishmash of bullshit. Someone posted one of the leader's sermons here, I listened for a few minutes and my reactions moved from eye-rolling derision to mouth-dropping surprise that anyone would believe that guy's bullshit.

(1,474 posts)The Chris Butler people, who worship him, pretend that they are Hindu and pretend that their group was affiliated with the International Society for Krishna Consciousness.
The only thing that Chris Butler took from the Hare Krishnas was the doctrine of what it means to be a bona fide guru. He took the concept and applied it to himself and decreed that he himself was the path to God and was God. Worship of Chris Butler will lead to immortality.
Children who were raised in the cult never celebrated Hindu holidays, and they never read the Vedas or any Vedic doctrine.
The first thing they usually attack people with is an accusation of being anti-hindu. I tend to mop the floor with their ignorance, as they are not prepared to speak to someone who actually understands vaishnava beliefs.
Also, I'm a little combative.

(10,206 posts)Founded by Chris Butler who now has a very Guru like name I can't even pronounce.
Seems very much like all the other very weird religions...more isolation is involved in this one though.
Just remember there is absolutely no valid evidence for a god of any kind and yet we give these crazy people tax exemptions. That's why we have so many cults...they make money off religion.
If I claim to see magical pink blobs that control the world, would you give me tax exemption too?

(1,474 posts)The only piece he took from them was the belief that a bona fide guru can overcome karma for his followers. They blanket reject every belief of the international society for Krishna consciousness, and people raised in the cult have reported that they never read the Vedas or gitas or engaged in any Hindu holiday observance. They had Christmas trees, and they listened to Chris Butler's sermons on random topics.
I've never joined them because I do not like religious fundamentalism. Last year, for instance, I was reading one of Bhaktivedanta Prabhupada's books and loving it, and then I happened to read an interview with a ISKCON cleric decreeing that it was blasphemy to say that the lunar eclipse was a physical phenomenon caused by the shadow of the earth. Rather, we are required to believe that a demon has eaten the moon temporarily. Literally. And that kind of fundamentalism never makes me happy.
ISKCON has a mixed history. Lots of wonderful, wonderful spiritual seekers. Lots of authoritarian abuse.
Edit: also the doctrine that they cannot associate with people who are not members.
