Kirsten Gillibrand endorses Cory Booker...

Christian,

I’m writing to you today about one of my best friends, Cory Booker.

Cory and I go way back. Yes, we’ve worked on legislation together, but Cory will often refer to me as his sister because that’s how close we’ve become. Heck, I even learned how to cook vegan just for him!

It’s how I know he’s a leader who puts people first. Cory has always led with both his head and his heart.

The fact that he won’t be on the December debate stage tonight is a loss for our party. He has consistently brought a unique perspective and has uplifted so many other voices on the national stage. If you’re looking for a candidate to support, I hope you’ll consider making a donation to Cory Booker today: https://secure.actblue.com/donate/kg_cb

Not only has he helped further the fight for a woman's right to choose and national paid family leave, but he has also led the field in gun violence prevention and combating mass incarceration that has disproportionately affected communities of color.

I see him fight every day in the Senate for the people of New Jersey and of this nation—and I know he will take that same energy to fight for our country as our president. His voice of unity and love is a message we need to hear during this broken time in our country.

But unfortunately, Cory’s voice won’t be featured during tonight's DNC debate. And there’s a long road to the White House ahead of him.

That’s why I hope you’ll join me by donating to Cory’s campaign to help him continue fighting all the way to Iowa and beyond.

Thank you,
Kirsten

Good for Booker getting that endorsement, though.

Cory Booker is a good man. And a much more genuine and sincere person than the woman who offered her endorsement. That is my opinion.

I don't think her endorsement is a big plus for Booker. She'd be better off staying out of it, unless she's trying to be on somebody's short list for VP.

"Sen. Franken has said that he will be making an announcement about his political future tomorrow. The right thing is for him to resign." Bernie Sanders.

Shit! Sorry. Accidentally used a Sanders quote instead of a Gillibrand one.

I think he did a great disservice to himself. Oddly enough, I think he did such a great disservice to himself because of how genuinely good of a person he is.

None of it matters. He resigned. We lost a great one. I've been over it since the day it happened. Doesn't mean I don't still have great appreciation and respect for the person he is.

Franken has been a huge positive for the team. Now that he is gone we have other players.

I wish Democrats would have rallied around Franken. Manchin is the only one I recall doing so. I wish Franken would have fought from the get go. He just kept telling people to wait. I can wish all I want but I understand what I witnessed. It was the railroading of a guy who was flat out too nice. Franken is the type of person who will go to war for your or I. I don't doubt that for a second. He is great like that. Making it about himself isn't his wheelhouse. That showed.

7. Cory Booker could be a strong candidate

Booker as the Democratic candidate, as unlikely as that seems to be at this point, might be able to stand up to Trump in the debates better than some of the other prospects. He's got tons of integrity (o.K., there was a little issue with the pharmaceuticals lobby), he's highly educated, he's been through ruthless battles in his mayoral campaigns, as mayor of Newark he lived in a low income project to better empathize with his constituents in that rather poor city, and with him the city began to turn around. I'm not sure why he hasn't gotten much traction. Is it just that he's not terribly well known? I fear that a septuagenarian nominee (I'm over 70 by the way) might not give the appearance of a fresh, forward thinking party. Biden's slogan using the term "Malarkey" sounds awfully antiquated -even to me. Cory's young, smart, and savvy. Hope he can hang in there.

Don't get me wrong, I don't "dislike" your "Malarkey" part. I just think it's kind of funny that people don't think the younger generations don't know what it means and that people don't see the windfall of free plugs Biden and his team got for using the word. I see not a single negative yet some keep trying to spin it that way.

Love Booker.
