Cory Booker would rather beat Trump at the polls

Politico

Democratic presidential candidate Cory Booker said Sunday that he’d rather see President Donald Trump defeated at the ballot box than removed from office.

“As a guy who is a big competitor, I want to beat Donald Trump mano a mano, I want to face him down on a debate floor. So this is not something that I want to do,” the New Jersey senator told host Chuck Todd on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”

Regardless, Booker said he won’t flinch from doing his duty as a juror in Trump’s pending Senate impeachment trial.
Story Continued Below

“Yeah, I’m going to evaluate the facts objectively and honor the oath that I swore even though I think Donald Trump has violated his oath of office,” Booker said.
If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

is not going to be removed. Period. In fact, we need to prepare for a Senate aquital, a conservative celebratory period, a poll bump and a very emboldened Trump. Impeachment, scandal, conduct has not hurt his polling. We will either GOTV or we won't. If 46% of registered voters stay home- they 8get what they deserve. We have 11 .months to make sure your registered, your info is up to date, you have correct ID and if you have been purged- correct it. No damn excuses. 11 months.

And he will never be free of the possibility that she could impeach him again --and he has hated this whole process.

can do in the next ten months is terrifying and that could include cheating to affect the election. THAT is why the House went ahead with impeachment so close to an election. There is no limit to the corrupt and destructive things this man will do, especially when he is backed into a corner.

but there was good reason to delay sending the articles to the senate. Pelosi wants to negotiate with McConnell to get a fairer, less partisan trial if at all possible. Meanwhile, Trump is forever an impeached president.

But what Booker said was ANYTHING but disqualifying.

Of course he would rather have beaten him at the ballot box. All of us wish Trump were a normal President we could simply beat at the ballot box, and not have to impeach.

which will allow him to claim vindication, the better strategy would be concentrating all of our energy on defeating him at the ballot box in 2020. Of course the problem with that is the Russians will probably help him steal the election again.

It is republicans who tried to use impeachment as a political tool. Democrats did what they thought was necessary to preserve our democracy and protect our elections. It is what they are required to do under such extreme situations.

becomes president Trump will be pardoned. That's assuming a Democrat wins of course. One of the first priorities of the new president would be to bring this country back together again, and seeing Trump in prison would divide us even more.
