Related: About this forumInside the Secret List of Demands Warren Gave Hillary
PoliticoIn December 2014, Clintons team began worrying that Warren was reconsidering a presidential run and arranged a meeting between the two principals at Clintons home in Washington.
Warren came in aggressive and firing on all cylinders catching Clinton off guard, said a Clinton official familiar with the meeting. She pressed Clinton to commit to not appointing Wall Street-friendly people to her administration, as Warren felt Bill Clinton and Barack Obama had done.
After the meeting, Warren sent Clinton a list of people she wanted the campaign team to consult on economic policy in order to broaden their horizons beyond people like Robert Rubin and Michael Froman, high-ranking officials in the Bill Clinton and Obama administrations who had also worked at Citigroup.
The list, recompiled by POLITICO based on the accounts of those involved, included a hodgepodge of sometimes obscure liberal academics and economists including MITs Simon Johnson, UConns James Kwak, Columbias Joseph Stiglitz, Vanderbilts Ganesh Sitaraman (policy director for Warrens 2012 campaign), University of Chicagos Amir Sufi, U.C. Irvines Katie Porter and Vermont Law Schools Jennifer Taub. The progressive think-tank types included Demos Heather McGhee; public servants who had clashed with the Obama administration included former Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. Chair Sheila Bair and longtime Senate aide Elise Bean. AFL-CIO policy director Damon Silvers represented unions.

(2,120 posts)....it can be a time of great excitement and anticipation (like Kennedy's "best and the brightest" or it can engender a real feeling of dread (Ronald Reagan's corp of angry old men). Candidates seldom (never?) talk about who they would put in their cabinet, out of an abundance of caution in avoiding controversy no doubt. But if Elizabeth Warren's list of movers and shakers is any cause for hope in her future as President, she has my vote.
On edit: I didn't put in that happy face emoji and it's not in this text I'm editing. I'm fine with it, but why is it here?

(113,063 posts)certainly impressed those values on a powerhouse like Clinton.
That greatly improved Clintons platform.
No wonder when Biden wanted to run a 2016 campaign he asked Warren to run with him as VP.
Clinton was smart to listen to Warren.

(58,785 posts)It's Warren's nature to be passionate about her beliefs and goals. And it's also policy wonk Hillary's nature to be passionate about her beliefs and goals, just loving to explain what she wants to accomplish with lots of detail instead of arm waving.
WE know they had a great many passions and goals in common and were good together.
Same for VP Biden, btw, who in 2015 had one person in mind for HIS running mate if he ran: Warren.

(58,785 posts)Some of us were thrilled by the two of them on the stump, but even here on DU a lot weren't.
Fact is, a lot of people didn't like a 1-women ticket, and of course not a 2-woman.
And it didn't help that business and finance had gotten downright silly about Warren and promised scorched earth if she was chosen. There are a lot of votes among economic moderates.
We wanted them.

(58,785 posts)But all Democratic Party plans have saving capitalism, the wonderful engine that could, as an imperative while putting our regulatory chains back on and creating a vigorous but nation-enriching business environment.
We're not nuts, Blm. We are intrinsically progressive economically and socially, and Warren's one of us. At least she has been since she became a Democrat and threw herself into it Warren-style.
