BERNIE SANDERS OUTPERFORMS JOE BIDEN IN HEAD TO HEAD MATCHUP WITH DONALD TRUMP, NEW POLL FINDS

In a recent survey by Ipsos/Reuters, slightly more respondents said they would vote for Senator Bernie Sanders than former Vice President Joe Biden in the 2020 election against President Donald Trump.

Though the difference is within the margin of error (3.4 percentage points) 39 percent of the 1,108 adults surveyed between December 18 and 19 preferred Sanders over Trump, compared to 37 percent who preferred Biden.

(snip)

In the Ipsos/Reuters poll, Sanders is supported by more independents (21 percent) and Democrats (74 percent) than both Biden and Warren in matchups against Trump, but the president nonetheless claims more of the independent vote against Sanders, Biden and Warren.

In another measure of electability, however, the Sanders-Trump comparison compels more people to vote at the end of the day, according to the survey. Only 20 percent of respondents say they wouldn't vote if the election were held between Sanders and Trump. That's compared to 23 percent and 21 percent who said the same of Biden and Warren versus Trump, respectively.

We need those small percentage points that can make a big difference on election day.
Once we've done the sorting-out process here, our candidate absolutely MUST have appeal to every voting demographic, must have platforms that makes Fox Noise create implausible confabulations that most anyone says... hmmm.
There's much can happen prior to November, and poll shifting will become apparent as the impeachment proceeding reaches even the "I'm not political" potential voter.
I've been able to change some hearts and minds using some tools and statistics that have made one previously right-wing supporter couple change their way of thinking with this:
https://www.overshootday.org/
Yes, it soaked though 2 previously deluded souls (couple who lives next door) who SHUT OFF FOX NOISE and started really thinking about their grandchildren's futures.
I don't care who wins the nomination in the wash.
I do care that their platform must not be weak on environmental activism.
I challenge all of us D.U.er's to reach out to family, even the Trumpers, about these matters. Getting stuck one candidate who is running ahead in the polls-- which tend to only reflect the desires most politically involved is
one way to create a repeat of 2016.

Biden beats Trump 37-36. In this unusual poll, Sanders beats Trump 39-37.

The Newesweek article, which is trying to hype Sanders, just points out the 39-37 difference, as if Sanders does 2 points better against Trump than Biden does. Not the most honest journalism..

As was pointed out in another reply here, when GE polls are averaged, Biden does much better against Trump than Sanders does.

But hey, cling to your poll showing Sanders for a change doing 1 point better than Biden...

In the poll that didn't overpoll Republicans, Biden did as well as Sanders, and Warren also beat Trump.

than that.

I just wish Ipsos hadn't released two polls referring to the same dates, with different results, because it's going to cause a lot of confusion.

I'd posted the results of their other Dec. 18-19 GE poll last Friday:

if he is nominated. Bernie has a far better shot of defeating the pee-Resident, as his nomination will fire up the Democratic base to go out and vote.
