Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumI'm not really undecided.
I've noticed that people here who choose to display their favorite candidate thereby compromise their ability to project objective opinions. When I read their posts I tend to think "well you would say that since you're a ------ fan."
So, although I do currently favor one of the Democratic candidates, I prefer to keep that to myself so that I can freely state my opinion about any issue without an appearance of bias.

(25,895 posts)There are two, maybe three candidates I am enthusiastic about, and several whose nomination would completely dismay me.
But by remaining officially undecided I can comment more neutrally, or perhaps seem more neutral.

(12,875 posts)Just kidding. Your OP makes sense, and my bet is your candidate selection was the result of unbiased consideration.
I am actually still undecided, though I recently started a thread stating my thoughts about Joe Biden being the most likely to beat Trump in what could be a close race we must not take for granted.

(59,504 posts)I saw people suggest that others that ran in 2004 should be in Kerry's and Obama's cabinets, once they were seen as the de facto nominee. (Early in 2008, many proposed President Clinton/VP Obama/AG Edwards) In 2016, I really did not see it.
Does it happen? Kerry did take Edwards as VP and we don't know who else he would have placed anywhere. Obviously, Obama did make HRC SoS and Biden VP. (There were good reasons NOT to put Edwards, Dodd, Richardson or Kuchinich in any position.) This would suggest that being in the race can make someone high profile - making their inclusion in the government more likely.

(58,785 posts)than everyone else and also to be head and shoulders above the dwindling field in what I wanted in our next president, I realized none of others I could endorse was likely to rise to serious contention.
Biden's focus is on saving our democracy so that we will in future still be able to decide things like what healthcare systems we want. For me, saving our government of the people, by the people, and for the people is #s 1-100 on any list of 100 priorities.

(10,274 posts)to help him do that.
And that seems delusional to me just now.
I would much prefer a dem president who will hold these fuckers to account for the crimes they have committed FIRST, and THEN be willing to extend the hand. And if elected republicans are willing to take that hand, then fine. But we have to be DONE with 'looking forward' where obvious domestic Constitutional, Humanitarian and War crimes have been committed.
And honestly, as long as the next president is a dem, I'm fine with that. But what this country NEEDS is The Next Elliot Ness as Attorney General.

(14,587 posts)But, then, we've all see each others posts and because of that can probably guess where along the continuum of candidates a given one of us might be.
I mean, if I had undecided instead of Warren, and you read a few of my posts, particularly those on healthcare, you could pretty much guess who I'd be supporting.
That said, anyone with a pulse will be just fine as a replacement for Trump. My 10-month-old Siamese kitten would be a better president that 'the Donald.'

(68,667 posts)to have an unknown favorite that shapes your opinions and posts all the while claiming to be undecided; I honestly don't give much weight to the opinions of those who say they are undecided because many like you are not undecided at all. And since I have no way to know where they are coming from, I can really evaluate their posts.
