Mediaite columnist predicts narrow Biden victory, then nightmare scenario where Trump won't concede

Last edited Mon Dec 30, 2019, 10:48 PM - Edit history (1)

https://www.mediaite.com/opinion/a-prediction-for-how-the-2020-presidential-election-will-go-down/

And no, I don't agree with him. I think that if Biden wins the nomination, he'll win by a wider margin than that, and possibly even flip Texas.

OTOH, I expect Trump to scream that the election was rigged, if he loses, no matter how great a margin he loses by.

Editing to link to some articles and columns about this possible nightmare scenario, including one noting Pelosi's concern about this:

is at the discretion of the commander in chief. At least it should be. Until now that's a courtesy that's always been provided to an outgoing president, even a disgraced one like Richard Nixon.

Knowing Trump, however, he'd insist on having his personal chopper with his name emblazoned on the side land on the WH lawn and take him away to his personal jet, which will whisk him out of the country, far beyond the reach of the SDNY and New York Attorney General. Maybe they'll have the police put a parking boot on Trump's airplane.

The one thing the opinion writers don't consider is the reaction of the U.S. population to an attempt by Trump to hang onto the presidency. The Women's March in 2016 will pale in comparison to the response of the people when they realize what Trump and the Republicans are trying to do. Despite Trump and the Republicans best efforts we are still a democracy, which the voters proved in 2018. I predict a nationwide protest -- culminating in a march on Congress -- to have the real will of the voters enforced.
