Biden is the antidote for Trump, but......

I posted earlier on a pro-Biden, but there are meta-issues every Democrat candidate needs to agree with and should underscore this election. Everyone of them. I think it deserves to be stand-alone post.

Obvious antidote to Trump.

He builds on Obama's legacy, but he damn well needs to stop the "Republicans are our friends".

He better revise his message to "the Republicans you know in your neighborhoods are not the enemy...it's the Organized Crime Party currently in Congress that pretends to share their values."

And pledge to confront this threat to our Democracy once and for all. We can be liberal or conservative in our ideas on various topics, but we have to preserve the court of public opinion. We cannot let an Internationalized Crime Syndicate, based in Moscow, do a friendly takeover of this country. That is the simple reality. Disbelieve at your own/collective peril.

No long winded speeches....just the truth. We have to restore American honor before we can lead again.

Kremlin Barbie, Porn star hush money, Access Hollywood and all the trash talk. We need a clean break with all of that. As Elizabeth Warren says to young girls at her rallies, "I'm running for president, because that's what girls do".

Keep in mind that Trump has been as divisive for the Republicans as he has for the Democrats. There are a lot of Republicans in the military, in labor and elsewhere who have been alarmed by what Trump has done, but believe that the Democrats are moving too fast and are pretty much uncaring about their fears (and have been more than a bit brainwashed by Fox & Co, just not as dramatically as others). I don't think that Biden is all that moderate on most issues, but he paints himself as such because he knows that the progressives are not going to jump ship so long as the primary threat is Trump - and that once he's in the general election, the GOP will take every statement he makes sound like a devil's fart. That's a lot harder to do when those positions are pretty consistent with a moderate playbook.

I number myself as a progressive, but I think that there are entirely too many purity tests in the Democratic party that will keep it fractured and ineffective. Save that for senate and house races and governorships. The center has been pushed dangerously far to the right, and it will take years (and a demographic shift, which is coming, albeit slowly) before the balance shifts, most likely along a different set of axes.

We really, really need to reach out to every potential voter and make sure they understand the ramifications of voting Putin/Trump/Pence. What we knew in 2016 is happening in to 2020....they are all in. Are we?

If the bros don't throw a hissy fit and gripe about fictional election rigging etc., Biden will be POTUS.

and deplorables have been telling each other that Dems are the enemies of America, soft on terrorism, don't have the backbone to do what Trump does, etc.

I've changed my vote to Joe Biden not because I think he's the 'best' candidate but because he's the one who can beat Trump.

I wanted someone younger. I wanted a woman. I don't think this is the year for that, unfortunately.

It can't be overstated: we cannot have another four years of Trump.
