BREAKING: Julin Castro endorses Elizabeth Warren for President!

'Castro says: “There’s one candidate I see who's unafraid to fight like hell to make sure America's promise will be there for everyone. Elizabeth and I share a vision of America where everyone counts. An America where people -- not the wealthy or well-connected -- are put first. I'm proud to join her in the fight for big, structural change.”'

surrogates are really gonna matter.
i have been thinking about this, as they have wrung their hands on my teevee about how these senators can compete while stuck in d.c. with their mouths taped shut most of the day.
i think this is a stupid topic, really. i mean, it's a thing, but it is hardly the immovable object.
they will still tweet, and talk on the tv at the end of the day's hearings. but the big thing will be who they can send out as stand-ins. if castro steps up, that is a big plus for warren.
really sad to see him go, but really glad to have him on the team.

Because you’re not a Warren supporter?

Biden would probably choose a female running mate, but we won’t know unless he becomes the candidate.

Candidates don’t always choose their running mate based on how much they like each other. And Castro didn’t bash Biden in this statement, he just supported Warren. So I doubt this endorsement changes his chances of being VP, regardless of who the candidate is.

This is how campaigning works. The players bash each other (usually much harder than excluding them from a list of people who are being praised) during the primaries, then gather together to support the eventual winner once one is decided. The man who coined the term “Voodoo Economics” became Reagan’s VP. This is how the sausage is made, and Castro has done nothing out of the ordinary.

45. When Biden campaigned against Obama in 2008
Mon Jan 6, 2020, 04:53 PM
Jan 2020

He called him “the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy,” which is exactly the kind of coded racist language that has been used against African Americans forever. He apologized and became Obama’s friend and running mate later. He’s not above this, no matter how you try to spin it.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Biden_2008_presidential_campaign#First-quarter_2007

This...is how...it’s done. Ted Kennedy viciously attacked Jimmy Carter in the primaries, and we all got over it. There are numerous other examples. Castro’s criticisms were quite mild by comparison to some.

I am still undecided, but I do think Biden is highly likely to win the nomination.

In many threads here and in the media, Castro is touted as a potential running mate for Biden, all I’m saying is that this endorsement makes it pretty clear both men know that is not going to happen.

Having served alongside Biden it may be that;

There is some animosity between them

Castro knows Biden doesn't want to work with him

Castro doesn't want to work with Biden

Castro knows the direction that Biden is likely to go and disagrees with it.

This isn't out of left field. Castro knows who will embrace his agenda best.

and they do it was a fulsome picture of the problems and the solutions.

this is a thing i could go on about all.day.every.day.
