Coaxing Rogue Obama Voters to Go Democratic Again

Hmmm, those Obama-then-Trump voters do strongly support the Democratic position on healthcare but the Trump position on immigration.

That makes sense, both positions are related to that groups' perceived sell interests. They want good healthcare for themselves, but bought into Trump telling them immigrants are stealing their jobs.

Even if they once voted for Obama. That would require a centrist cow towing to “white anxiety”, which would likely backfire and alienate POC.

Increasing turnout, especially among young voters, is a far more effective strategy. All that is required is the nomination of a candidate who inspires voters to show up.

"his(Buttigieg) racial liberalism is likely a key component to his recent rise, fueled disproportionately by woke white liberals who are nervous about Warren." G Elliott Morris.

G. Elliot Morris is right on both counts, Mayor Pete is the furthest thing from a racist and he had drawn support away from Warren among college educated voters.

I do like that the 23 year old Morris has already stated that "Biden is probably going to win."

Yes, it is nice to see objective data journalists.

This is one reason people have confidence in the Economist's Polling model, also 538's Polling model, which we all know is one of the best, agrees with it to a very substantial degree.

Not off hand, but I do seem to recall he called the general election wrong.

Perhaps that would be a good project for someone who was interested in 2016 to pursue.

Joking. Mostly. Well, not really joking.

Yeah, great point, 2016 was not Nate Silver's best year.

But to be fair, if I remember correctly, he did give trump about a 23% chance of winning the general election, so it's not like he was wrong wrong.

It's just that where he was wrong was where the election was decided (WI, MI, PA)

I believe on election day he gave Hillary around a 66% chance to win, which was on the low end of what other prognosticators were giving her. And from his data, you could see how Trump managed the upset because there were still around 8% undecided going into election day, who probably went hard for Trump.
