Flashback: Joe Biden's first presidential run in 1988 cratered amid multiple instances of plagiarism

https://www.businessinsider.com/plagiarism-scandal-joe-biden-first-presidential-run-1988-2019-3

Before Joe Biden was vice president during the Barack Obama administration, and before he bowed out of the 2008 presidential race, the longtime senator from Delaware unsuccessfully ran for the 1988 Democratic presidential nomination.

Incidents of plagiarism both on the campaign trail and during his time at the Syracuse University College of Law became some of the final issues that dogged Biden before he ultimately suspended his floundering campaign.

During his failed 1988 run, Biden lifted portions of a speech by United Kingdom Labour MP and Margaret Thatcher challenger Neil Kinnock.

According to another 1987 article in The Times, Biden acknowledged plagiarizing a law review journal for a paper during law school, and asked school administrators not to be expelled. But Biden also said he made a mistake in the citation process.

It pales in comparison to what our opponents do regularly and frequently in terms of misleading and misrepresenting.

If you want to help Bernie Sanders, promote his policies and tout his accomplishments.

I'm sure he's prepared to deal with any fallout from this now. Seems like ancient history.

Progressives play whack-a-Joe with Biden
https://www.politico.com/news/2020/01/08/progressives-pre-iowa-assault-biden-095934

Steve Schale, the head of a super PAC dedicated to helping Biden win, said the polls tell the story of why progressives are suddenly targeting Biden.

“We’re in the last 30 days of the campaign, and that’s when people who are losing start attacking,” Schale said. “It’s not surprising they’ve taken more of a negative turn when they realized that Joe Biden after basically a year of being attacked is still the frontrunner.”

These attacks amuse me

77. I get so confused. We are supposed to look at McGovern and 1972 and see why Bernie can't win. But
Thu Jan 30, 2020, 05:10 PM
Jan 2020

we apparently can't look back to Biden's actual run in 1988 and why Biden ultimately dropped out of the race because of accusations of plagerism and exaggeration.

One is apparently very very meaningful and one is just invented scandal - that somehow has something to do with Sanders although he certainly wasn't involved in Biden's 1988 presidential run.

My brain is probably fried from trying to figure out so much hypocrisy which is, I'm sure, why I have a hard time understanding what's allowed and what's not.

But carry on . . .
