Opinion research- Buttigieg

Going to ask supporters of each major candidate (from my perspective), separately, to all answer the same questions. I'm honestly trying to get a fair perspective with the primaries around the corner.

Buttigieg (please, I beg you, only answer if you are a Pete Buttigieg supporter):

As an epileptic and the father of a child with a rare disease, healthcare is incredibly important. What is Buttigieg's current position on healthcare system and drug costs?

I'm also drowning in student loan debt. What is his position on the student loan debt crisis?

What is his position and plans to address climate change?

What are his plans to address costs of higher education and deal with the intellectual gap between our current workforce and the workforce we need?

What are his plans to deal with nations like Iran and Syria?

What are his plans to deal with the deplorable healthcare and training after separation from service for military vets?

Sincerely, thank you if you answer these questions.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

1. Here's some info.

Jan 2020

1. There are 7 steps outlined in detail at the included link. Too much info to post. Find it here: https://peteforamerica.com/a-new-era-for-health/

2. Make student loans less burdensome and more affordable.
AUTOMATICALLY ENROLL STRUGGLING STUDENT BORROWERS IN AFFORDABLE, INCOME-DRIVEN REPAYMENT PLANS.
Student borrowers will be automatically enrolled when they fall behind on their payments or indicate they are struggling to repay their debt. Pete will also help all borrowers stay enrolled in income-driven plans. These loans will be cancelled, tax-free, after borrowers have been enrolled in the income-based plan for 20 years. CANCEL DEBT FOR BORROWERS WHO ATTENDED UNAFFORDABLE FOR-PROFIT PROGRAMS.
Pete will aggressively pursue accountability for for-profit colleges that leave students with unaffordable debt and without viable job prospects.

PROVIDE EARLIER STUDENT LOAN FORGIVENESS TO PUBLIC SERVANTS AND FULL DEBT CANCELLATION AFTER 10 YEARS OF SERVICE.
Those who are working in government service or non-profit organizations will have their debt cancelled incrementally based on their years of service, at an accelerated rate. A Buttigieg administration will also improve the management of the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Plan and invest $100 million to increase workers’ access to public service jobs.

PUT BORROWERS FIRST.
Pete will limit marketing from student loan servicers, make credit reporting on student loans fair and transparent, and update protections on borrowers’ other federal benefits from debt collection. Pete will also end wage garnishment and other collections on defaulted student loans for low-income borrowers. Source: https://peteforamerica.com/policies/higher-education/

3. PART I - BUILD A CLEAN ECONOMY
That is why we are setting a realistic plan to become a net-zero emissions society no later than 2050:2
● By 2025, double the clean electricity generated in the U.S.
● By 2035, build a clean electricity system with zero emissions and require zero emissions for all
new passenger vehicles.
● By 2040, require net-zero emissions for all new heavy-duty vehicles, buses, rail, ships, and
aircraft and develop a thriving carbon removal industry.
● By 2050, achieve net-zero emissions from industry, including steel and concrete, manufacturing,
and agriculture sectors.

A. INVEST TO MAKE THE U.S. THE LEADING CREATOR OF CLEAN ENERGY TECHNOLOGIES
B. PRIORITIZE ENERGY EFFICIENCY
C. TRANSFORM THE ELECTRICITY SECTOR
D. MODERNIZE TRANSPORTATION.
E. A 21st CENTURY INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION
F. REMOVE CARBON
G. SUPPORT FARMERS AND CLIMATE-SMART AGRICULTURE
H. FOCUS ON JOBS, TRAINING, AND TRANSITION

PART II - INVEST IN RESILIENCE
PART III - DEMONSTRATE LEADERSHIP

Moun more detail at link for climate change here: https://storage.googleapis.com/pfa-webapp/documents/Climate-Plan-White-Paper.pdf

4. His plan for addressing other education issues, like higher education and associated cost are at the same link included in response number 2.

5. We need to fundamentally rethink our foreign policy to help America lead and shape a better world for our future. The next president will have to restore American credibility on the world stage and establish a new and higher standard for the deployment of U.S. military force. It’s time to put an end to endless war and focus on how best to use America’s strengths to address future threats, including climate security as a key basis for diplomacy. Pete is committed to reinventing institutions of international engagement to address 21st century challenges and opportunities and to reversing the rise of authoritarianism abroad while revitalizing democratic capitalism and our democracy at home.

6. This is a two part issue with points being addressed in part by his healthcare plans and also at this link for military care, transition, and continued care. Here: https://peteforamerica.com/policies/veterans/

I hope this helps. I know it’s a lot of info, but it only scratches the surface in regard to certain subjects you’ve inquired about. At his website, it has a complete breakdown of his plans for multiple issues. Just give it a visit and click on the drop down menu on the left side. https://peteforamerica.com/

We haven't done nearly enough, quickly enough. Geoengineering is going to have to be a part of the solution.

2. Google is your friend when you have questions like this. So is checking the candidate's website.

It's actually much simpler and quicker than asking questions here.

For instance, if you go to Google and search for

buttigieg student loan debt

you instantly get a first page of search results including

https://www.forbes.com/sites/adamminsky/2019/06/06/where-does-pete-buttigieg-stand-on-student-loan-debt/#2082fbb32549

https://www.axios.com/pete-buttigieg-college-debt-plan-033ae42d-c46a-4098-8f54-599592ed16f4.html

https://www.pbs.org/newshour/education/pete-buttigiegs-high-student-debt-draws-attention-to-the-issue

which give you a lot of info on not just Buttigieg's position but other candidates'.

I'm not trying to be flippant here. It's just easier for you to check the info already available and searchable.
