Steyer: America's brand in the world is the most important protection we have.
(in a discussion about Iran, foreign policy, and terrorism)
Tom Steyer was just on CNN / Jake Tapper SOTU - gave great answers. A summary of the part I heard, just the last couple minutes:
* the amount of money spent in SC and Nevada: he is running against career politicians, some very famous, and no one know who he is. When he does these ads, introducing himself and his platform, his numbers always go up. People like his message.
* Tapper asked him how he thought the events around Mosaddegh has influenced the current situation in Iran. I don't remember the exact wording, but I thought Tapper crafted the question carefully to see is Steyer had ANY IDEA who Mosaddegh was. Steyer did, and gave an excellent answer that boils down to "of course; doing something like that reverberates for generations". And the quote in the subject line of this post, which I think is very good, politically. (And true, in the context of foreign policy.)
For anyone who is interested in Steyer, if you can, find and watch a clip of this appearance. I think he did quite well.
