with black voters despite stop and frisk among other problems. I think it is beyond time to blame all of Buttigieg's poor showing among blacks on police in South Bend. I know I will get roasted for that but in this poll Bloomberg has 9 times the support of Buttigieg among blacks. What explanation is there for this?

No candidate is owed their support. Booker wasn't even receiving it.
Bloomberg, despite his policies, has been advertising like crazy, is remarkably successful financially and politically. When stacked up against Buttigieg, he comes out ahead among that narrow pool of eligible. The same goes for Cory and Yang.

I've seen no Buttigieg ads on the airwaves. I'm not voting for either one, but if I were picking a mayor with a confusing and problematic police force, I'd probably go with the older one from a bigger city.

I think people need to realize that the thing that makes Buttigieg inspiring to white voters sometimes aren't inspiring to black voters and the small sliver that was winnable, just has better options.

But now the mayor who defended Stop and Frisk until 5 minutes before he ran for President, refused to pay the Central Park Five for over a decade, that mayor is doing 9 times better than him. Really? But it is all about the brutality.

It is a sum of things. That's why writing the crime bill isn't the end of Biden's campaign. Black voters are beyond reasonable and often weigh racially negative of someone's career with other things, private and professional. Bloomberg has those policies, but he's a NY fixture and has done a better deal advertising the better aspects of his political and professional experience than Buttigieg. He's also, and I say this pointedly, not a 36/37 year old small town mayor that is running for President.

Buttigieg doesn't have or hasn't done a better job advertising those aspects of his life. So on balance, the more recent police aspects of his term as mayor take on a whole lot of weight. Maybe he will do better in 2020/2028 (assuming that he runs again), but there's needs to be some time to learn and frankly, forgive.

Experience and ties to the community matter. Past racial incidents matter. However, as a black voter in NC, if I cancelled out every white politician for problematic racial instances, I'd be electing next to no one.

but I will say I think his being gay has something to do with it. I am not saying all, or most, or even a plurality, just some.

That's an issue that I've had with Buttigieg supporters and frankly, encapsulates one of the reasons that that line of reason does him no favors. It's the peddling of the myth that black voters are more homophobic than the white voters who often outnumber them. We're a minority of the population that votes for one of the most pro-gay, progressive parties in this country. The same can't be said for the white majority, who may support gay policies in polls, but not enough at the ballot box to keep a man like Mike Pence out of the white house.

If we look at the most recent amendment to ban gay marriage in NC, white voters were for it 56% while black voters were for it 53%. The biggest difference though is that white voters dominated black voters on a scale of 7unsupressed votes to 1.

It's a bias that his supporters really need to work on. No one is entitled to their vote and there isn't always some insidious reason why they're not getting it.

The Yang Gang isn't playing up anti-asian racism. Cory Booker isn't accusing black voters of being self-hating. Klobuchar supporters aren't calling them sexist. They're all polling similarly to Buttigieg.
