Here's why Elizabeth Warren didn't run for president in 2016

snip

According to the Wall Street Journal, Warren even acknowledges such in her upcoming book, which is set to be published next week. The Journal — which obtained an advance copy of the book, This Fight is Our Fight, from a conservative opposition research group — reports the Massachusetts Democrat went to her husband, Harvard professor and historian Bruce Mann, for his thoughts on running in early 2015.

“I knew what he would say first,” Warren wrote, “and he said it: ‘I want you to do whatever you want to do. I’ll be there.'”

While Mann was supportive, he also noted that the 2016 race “looks pretty terrible,” even compared to Warren’s notoriously ugly 2012 Senate race against Republican incumbent Sen. Scott Brown.

“The Senate thing was bad enough, and running for president would be worse—a lot worse,” Mann reportedly said.

Instead, Warren reportedly met one-on-one with Hillary Clinton in February 2015, during which Clinton reportedly solicited policy ideas and suggestions from the senator, who at the time was — and continues to be — one of the leading progressive political voices.

PERSIST

Her decision not to run effectively opened a lane for fellow Sen. Bernie Sanders’s insurgent primary campaign against Clinton, who ultimately won the nomination in a closer-than-expected race — leading some to wonder whether Warren could have won, if she ran.

Interesting read and I followed most of the links. The articles show two primary people Warren met with. Her husband and Hillary Clinton about 2016. I have not found ONE LINK to show she met with Sanders and he encouraged her to run 2016.

Fact is women are treated differently. They are not to be believed. They are called shrill. They need to smile more and tamp down any anger. Never question a mans word just meekly follow. Sit down and shut up.

Mitch McConnell tells Elizabeth Warren (and Coretta Scott King) to sit down and shut up

If I was looking at just those two, Warren would be the easy choice. Sanders has some support baked in from 2016, of course, but why she isn't doing better than he is this cycle has always been a bit of a mystery to me.

Any fair look at her decades of work would show that Sanders built his 2016 economic platform using the resultant data and information collected by committed workers and researchers like Warren and others.

I wish there were Sanders supporters who will tell these factions to stop spreading lies about Warren.

Warren showed her commitment by dedicating 2 decades to the economic issues of working families at their must vulnerable point. People who only heard of Sanders in 2015 think he alone has said and done anything meaningful. How much of what Sanders has said since he began his campaign in 2015 had its origin in Warren’s work product.

I'm being sarcastic, of course, but there are many of his supporters who act as though that's a truism. I usually write it off as people new to politics who don't understand that the Democratic party has a long history of fighting for women and fighting for minorities and fighting for poor people and fighting for education, etc. It could also be that they're being intentionally obtuse.

I do think that Warren made a bit of a tactical error by aligning herself with Sanders early on in the campaign on stuff like M4A. I think it's caused her to suffer a bit from blowback he's received on a couple of issues, simply by association.

That's hindsight, of course, and it's difficult to know what could or should have been done differently. As I noted above, I don't really get why she isn't doing much better than he is. Conventional wisdom is that they're splitting the same contingency, but I'm not sure that's all there is to it.

She’s smart, has lots of advisers, she could have developed her own plans and ideas. Sure, similar to sanders, but different.

Warren supporters...your thoughts?

She carried out on them. He is talk and she is action.

Please read CFPB. She did all this LONG before she became a Senator.

She already took them on. The GOP feared and still fears her. She is a woman of action.

Fact is I do not believe them to be friends, I believe she as a professional keeps it friendly. Huge difference.
