... something like, "Being a woman makes it harder to earn a living." It doesn't mean you think being a woman is a problem; rather, that there's a systemic problem that penalizes being a woman.

Granted, Hillary won the vote in 2016, cracking that glass ceiling in terms of electoral politics, so maybe the anchor dragging on a woman's presidential chances is now much smaller than it used to be. But I think Bernie is just acknowledging that in politics it seems that a woman has to be twice as smart and work twice as hard as a man -- same as in the workplace.

Poor Warren, she really needs to work on her problems, mainly being female. Oh well, she can't be perfect, no one is.
He goes on to say that Pete's problem set includes being young and being gay. Come on, Pete.

I know he didn't mean it like that but in Biden's case that would be one of those gaffes.

It's still strange that Bernie talks about this in the context of problems of the candidates. As in Warren's set of problems contains being female. Mentioning Pete being gay in the same sentence that expresses that everybody has his set of problems which makes it sound like a personal negative trait.
I think regarding his words as a clumsy way to say what you explained is the most beneficial interpretation of these comments.

“A different experience” is different from just asking about experience. And it’s not controversial to say (as Sanders is here) some people out there might have a problem with a gay candidate, an old candidate, or a woman candidate. That’s going to be true for some people. Is anyone really denying that?

What he’s definitely not saying here is that he thinks it’s an imperfection.

We all know who is responsible for her losses there and how some supposed Democrats promoted Jill Stein in the General Election.

I think America, especially blue America has come a long way and a competent woman of Hillary's, Nancy Pelosi's or Sen Warren's stature can win the GE. The misogyny and sexism exist to a large extent in red states that we couldn't possibly carry anyway.

But one of these candidates is eventually going to face TRUMP. Can they just stop giving Trump ammunition against them?
The media's culpable too, trying to elevate an unshaken hand to the level of Trump's minion stalking a US ambassador and Trump selling out an ally to Putin.

It just would be great if we could focus on the important stuff that will WIN:
1) I'm not Trump
2) We will save and improve your health care system.
3) We will return to protecting the environment and improving our water and air.
4) We believe climate change exists and we need to join the global effort to mediate it.
5) We will focus on educating American children and helping college students afford college.
5) We will focus on policies that improve American lives.

Etc.

We're so right on the issues. But arguing in between the cracks and hating on other Dems isn't productive. Focus on what is held in common, not the differences.

Then again, it's easy to say that when I'm not committed to any one candidate. I just want the one that emerges in the general election not to be hampered by primary season antagonisms.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden
