"What so many people don't seem to get about Biden is the genuine affection that so many voters feel

toward him. His compassion, empathy, and genuine goodness. He has an organic appeal that no candidate in this race can duplicate"

That was a tweet from Boston Globe columnist Michael Cohen, commenting on tweets from journalist Matthew Zeitlin on the video clip from the NY Times that I posted about in this OP:

Cohen's tweet:

Zeitlin's tweets start here, full text below:

the security guard loving biden is more meaningful and informative for why he's in the position he's in than anything he says in the interview

literally a black working class woman saying "I love you so much" before he gets filleted by obviously skeptical elite liberal opinion journalists. his entire campaign in a nutshell.

Tweet from a Biden staffer, with the video clip they're talking about:

Like we both are responsible for the mess we are in. Fuck that, he may believe in his perfect Senate record, but none of his ideas made it thru Republican controlled tenures

And yes, nostalgia for the Obama years is the rocket fuel driving Biden's campaign. It certainly is not his centrist policy positions.

seemed more aimed at the other men on the panel.

The millions who are unable to declare bankruptcy to get out from under impossible student debt -- thanks to Biden's efforts on behalf of the banking industry -- might not feel much of his compassion or empathy either.

The best I could say about him is that he might be a Gerald Ford-style comfortable return to normality. Which is something, and I'll strongly support him if he's the nominee.

16. Personal dishonesty doesn't allow understanding. Zeitlin's example
Mon Jan 20, 2020, 06:44 AM

of denial is no different than the partisan dishonesty that allows RWers to deny climate change because that's what their team does. And from dishonest comes more dishonesty.

@MattZeitlin
the security guard loving biden is more meaningful and informative for why he's in the position he's in than anything he says in the interview

Imo, Zeitlin's complete dismissal of a man who holds a modest job is incredibly indicative of why pay is low. He's too busy attacking to be aware of his own massive hypocrisy, though.

of either her or Biden.

I'm sorry you found the pronoun confusing, and I'm guessing you replied before looking at the video.

When Zeitlin refers to "the position he's in" he means Biden's position as front-runner.

And the comparison to the "obviously skeptical elite liberal opinion journalists" does NOT flatter those journalists or the way they treat Biden.

Zeitlin is siding with the security guard.
