New York Times ed board endorses Warren, Klobuchar

Interesting. While Klobuchar and Warren have both struck me as very knowledgeable about the issues and honest about the costs and benefits of their plans, they have very different policy views.

The New York Times’ editorial board endorsed two female senators for the Democratic nomination for president Sunday: Elizabeth Warren and Amy Klobuchar.

The Times’ editorial board sat with nine leading candidates last month for on-the-record interviews, transcripts of which were later annotated and published in full.

For the first time ever, the dual endorsement was announced on The New York Times’ TV documentary show “The Weekly” on FX, offering rare access into the newspaper’s endorsement process. The show will stream on Hulu later Sunday night.

The New York Times’ opinion page published the endorsement online at 11 p.m. Sunday, and it will appear in the newspaper Monday.

2. I Appreciate Them Going Back and Forth During the Debate

For example, unlike Bernie Sanders who just trashes any idea that is not his, including attacking Warren for the cost of her Medicare for All proposal while refusing to disclose anything about the costs of his plan, Warren actually acknowledged that the Biden and Klochubars plans would improve the current health care system. However, she explained that the reason why they cost less is because they do less.

I appreciated that honest approach that does not go out her way to suggest that her opponents are driven by nefarious motives. She comes off as far more credible and capable of implementing her agenda.

I think the American public is better served when they are educated and informed, rather than simply appealing to their anger and prejudices.

I had come to this conclusion recently.

Bernie is too extreme - and too old.

Biden is too much status quo - and too old.

Buttigieg might be ready someday - he could get some role in the next Democratic administration.

Warren and Klobuchar both have strong credentials. They both are in their prime. It comes down to if you want to vote for someone for more rapid fixing of problems - or for the one with a more gradual approach.

I think we should have learned from Obama and Trump - that the more that can be fixed - the sooner the better. Because you can't assume the next president will continue on with the whatever you have started.

8. Yes, "rapid fixing" or "gradual approach"?

My sentiments comport with all you have written here.

In the last debate, Klobuchar said something about "by 2050" regarding healthcare changes. Didn't get to hear any of the specifics because my spouse was exclaiming, "2050? 2050! I don't have until 2050! We need something done now!"

And then they were on to the next question.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden
