RCP poll averages, Jan. 26: Biden 29.5, Sanders 22.6, Warren 14.5, Bloomberg 7.5, Buttigieg 7.0,

Yang 4.3, Klobuchar 3.6

https://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2020/president/us/2020_democratic_presidential_nomination-6730.html

The three more moderate candidates among those are dividing 47.6% of the vote. The two more left/progressive candidates (all our candidates are progressive, actually) are dividing 37.1% of the vote.

I have no idea where to put Yang, don't think he really fits in either camp.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

Biden rightfully scares the living shit outta Drumpf...and that alone is a great reason for nominating Joe as the Democratic standard bearer.

This is an interesting article that 538 put together about a year ago...

https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/the-six-wings-of-the-democratic-party/

I myself probably fall somewhere between "very progressive" and "super progressive" but I am also pragmatic. Even though I am more aligned with many of the policies that Warren and Sanders espouse you simply can't fool around when facing an existential threat like Trump. While I firmly believe that highly progressive policies would greatly benefit a vast majority of Americans in the long run, if we try to pull the country too far left too fast the rope will snap and we'll end up flat on our asses with nothing but a short piece of limp rope in our hands. Democrats have a reputation for snatching defeat from the jaws of victory because too often we vote with our hearts instead of our heads and we can't let that happen again...not this time.

Most polls show that Biden has the best chance of beating the Conspirator-in-Chief and would win by the widest margins. If we nominate Biden we stand a great chance of winning back Michigan, Wisconsin and my native Pennsylvania which alone would be good enough to take back the White House...but we also have a solid chance to win Iowa, Florida and Arizona (where I am now) and possibly a few other states.

I'm also fairly certain Joe has longer coattails than the other Dem contenders. Booting Putin's Bitch outta the White House won't do us all that much good if Moscow Mitch remains in control of the Senate. We can't be satisfied with just beating that sick SOB in the Oval Office...we also need to obliterate his enabling GOP bastards at the same time.

Biden may not be a super-progressive like Sanders but make no mistake...he is a "hard-core liberal" who just so happens to appeal to a majority of Independents and also some Trump-hating Republicans...

If Democrats go for broke that may very well be what we end up...dead broke. A liberal Biden in the White House...a Senate controlled by Democrats...and a House with even more Dems then there are now is plenty good enough for me compared to where we are at the moment. I strongly urge all my fellow progressives to exercise a little pragmatism.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden
