Bloomberg is taking the battle to Trump. Good for him.

By Joel Connelly, SeattlePI

The presence of $130 million worth of Michael Bloomberg on TV screens is enough to focus disparate minds.

President Donald Trump has taken the tweet bait, especially with Bloomberg ads that reveal efforts to roll back health care for those with pre-existing conditions, and quotes from a new book by Washington Post reporters that reveal Trump hurling insults at senior U.S. military officials.

"Mini Mike Bloomberg ads are purposely wrong -- a vanity project for him to get into the game," said one Tweet, by one whose presidency is nothing but vanity projects. Upon learning Bloomberg had shelled out millions for a Super Bowl commercial, Trump promptly matched him.

Bernie Sanders is also fuming, his arms flailing at the "arrogance of billionaires" who would try to "buy an election." Not hard to see why. Bloomberg has accomplished things in the public arena as mayor of New York, and as gun safety and climate campaigner. Sanders has been giving the same speech for 50 years with next to nothing to show on the ledger.

Bloomberg's ads are getting pretty ubiquitous. I'm not a supporter but if he can turn up the heat on Trump more power to him.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

Bloomberg is going for Trump's jugular while the rest of the Dem field is engaging in middle school mud slinging and accusation flinging.

"He's bragging about his endorsement from Joe Rogan!"

"He criticized bussing!"

"Her plan is full of unicorn wishes!"

Not a damn one of them is going after the giant tangerine elephant in the room. Don't tell me about XXXX's stance on the 1994 crime bill or XXXX's stance on M4A, tell me what they intend to do to repair the damage Trump has inflicted on this country. I don't mean to sound dismissive but that is the number one issue at this point. If Trump wins a second term all bets are off: war with Iran, backing killer cops and war criminals, burning down the safety net are all very real possibilities.

Also, whenever I hear someone complain about billionaires I look to Illinois governor JB Pritzker, a billionaire and one of the most progressive governors in Illinois history. Just because they have lots of money doesn't automatically make someone an enemy of the people.

primary today, I would vote for:
