Bernie's Demeanor is to divide not to unite.

..Bernie does not unite, he divides. Biden unites us against Trump.

..Bernie will by nature, create division. He already has. Of course supporters don't see that, because they haven't been there. I have been there. McGovern created division by his nature. Sure he was correct on important issues, but he was the wrong person for the wrong times. Bernie is a divider, not a person who unifies. He is also the wrong person for the wrong times..

I will never forget the returns coming in for McGovern..So disappointing. I couldn't believe it, but now I do. You want proof? Proof is in the one sentence below...

..Look at how Bernie has divided us?

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

Bernie will not win. McGovern did not win. He lost by a record amount. He was a terrible candidate.

If McGovern had won, he would have saved thousands of lives and gotten us out of Viet Nam much earlier. Isn't saving lives important?

But McGovern lost, and lost big. Bernie is exactly the same. Bernie promotes division by his personality and how he presents issues. You don't see it, because ..........you don't see it. You are a believer. I was one too. Not this time..Biden can win....Here is why......................

This also splains Bernie's surge in the polls and, as he picks up primary and caucus wins, why he'll continue to unite many more voters who make up the Democratic coalition, as well as a broad swath of Independents. Bernie will surely go down in history as the "Great Uniter"... count on it!!

It's Bernie's progressive vision that voters are glomming onto like a magnet... the more that voters unite under the ever-growing "Bernie Banner," Bernie will continue to attract even more supporters. To put it another way, Bernie is a train that continues to chug along, and the more passengers that jump on board, the more it gathers steam.

There's no stopping the "Bernie Train"... and once Elizabeth joins the team, the country will most certainly unite like never before, with a common purpose of throwing President Shitstain out of office!!

https://swampland.time.com/2012/01/19/top-10-dirty-political-tricks-2/slide/donald-segretti-and-the-nixon-gang/

The Watergate scandal is the most famous case of political deviance in Americanhistory. But take away the burglary and the cover-up that eventually took down Richard Nixon, and the 1972 campaign still stands as one of the dirtiest in modern times. The smears began well before the general election when Nixon’s operatives, including Donald Segretti, attacked various participants in theDemocratic primaries. They printed fliers attacking Maine Senator Ed Muskie’s stance on Israel and put them under the windshield wipers of cars outside Miami Bear synagogues. The fliers looked like they came from the campaign of Democrat John Lindsay. Segretti and company stole Citizens for Muskie stationary andsent out a letter accusing Senator Henry “Scoop” Jackson of fathering an illegitimate child with a teenager and claiming that he had been arrested for homosexuality in the 1950s. The letters would land Segretti in jail. In 1974, he pleaded guilty to three misdemeanor counts of distributing false campaign literature and served a little more than 4 months in prison. Nixon, of course, resigned the Presidency in 1974.

I remember how the same gang would pretend to be an "advance team" for McGovern in 1972 and line up events in various places that were supposedly for McGovern. Of course they weren't and McGovern was given all the blame.

I am so sick of people who apparently do NOT know their political history hitting on McGovern. Yes, he was to the left of most Dems of the day. But he was a WWII veteran - with medals to show for it - and a lifelong Democrat. He opposed the Vietnam War from 1963 on and, as we all know today, was correct in doing so. He was always interesting in helping the most vulnerable among us and was a stellar public servant. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_McGovern

That he lost the 1972 election so badly was in part due to Nixon & Co.'s dirty tricks, his own honesty and low-key campaign style, and the coalition of Southern Democrats (most the same as those later known as "Reagan Democrats&quot who opposed him fiercely. Also, he would never have been the Democrats' first choice, had others not been forced out by N & C's dirty tricks.

But I will NEVER regret having voted for him in 1972!

Many people were so tired of the status quo that they were willing to take a chance on any type of change, even if the change might end up in disaster. Sanders satisfies that desire for change but in a positive way, not trump's toxic rabble rousing.

People can now see the consequences of either not voting or voting for a third party candidate. I know someone who did the latter and that person is extremely remorseful and will never do it again.

This is NOT like 2016. People have lived with Trump in the White House for three years and that is ample motivation for anyone who is paying attention to make sure they cast a vote that will end this nightmare. There may be a handful of people who will do something stupid, but not enough to sway the election. Once again, this is not a rerun of 2016.

the nominee, he would tear him to shreds. Bernie may be a strong primary candidate, but I don't see him as a strong general election candidate. I know far too many Democrats who honestly can't stand him. Myself, I've always liked Bernie, as an activist and advocate, but I never for a single moment saw him as a president. Sadly, after watching how he and his staff campaign, my admiration for Bernie is fading. I really thought the man had more integrity.

That said, Bernie brings a lot of important issues to the table and I think he has helped to pull our party more to the left. However, I don't see him as the person to bring about the progressive changes he advocates. Implementing change takes a skill set and negotiating expertise that Sanders does not seem to possess.

I was a rabid McGovern supporter, did some work on his campaign. In my young naive mind there was no way he wasn't going to win. Those election returns told me in no uncertain terms just how incredibly naive and inexperienced I really was. That night changed my thinking forever. Americans never vote for radical revolutiobs. They want stability and some sense of certainty. If faced with a choice between trump and Sanders, I'm afraid we'll see another result like we did with Nixon vs McGovern. Republicans are very experienced in exploiting candidates like Sander, and exploit him they will.

As a Biden supporter, do you think your post unites Democrats or divides us? A sizeable number of people respect, admire and support Bernie and wish him to be a candidate. Uniting would be respecting those people. I do not favor Joe Biden as our candidate but understand the reasoning and respect those who do.

You seem to divide us differently and then say its only others who divide. It is too bad is all I can say that posts like your original post are so prominent rather than posts the respect other groups in the Democratic Party.

The people forced to live paycheck to paycheck because their jobs were sold overseas and their future is locked in massive trusts and foundations. Organizations that exist to protect billionaire’s money by claiming service to the poor and impoverished forced into those conditions by the trillions of dollars hoarded in those very organizations.

To begin - I posted this earlier in discussion about Bernie and his outreach to white working class and his belief that class trumps race and that white and black working class will join together to overthrow the oligarchs. Or the Democrats. Probably Democrats.

Bernie Sanders still says class is more important than race. He is still wrong

Sanders spoke about the need to move ‘beyond identity politics,’ apparently not recognizing that this is impossible in America

<snip>

"It appears that in the aftermath of a monumental but nonetheless failed presidential campaign, Bernie Sanders remains most comfortable in the spot that made him a loser: trying to separate class and race.

Sanders has never been wrong about the damaging roles establishment politics and economics play in the lives of millions of Americans. Even so, he’s long struggled with acknowledging that focusing on class alone won’t make this country better for many who are struggling. That the revolution cannot be colorblind if it were to truly make this country better for all of the disenfranchised.

At a speech in Boston on Sunday, the Vermont senator advocated “go[ing] beyond identity politics,” declaring, “The working class of this country is being decimated — that’s why Donald Trump won. And what we need now are candidates who stand with those working people, who understand that real median family income has gone down.”

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2016/nov/22/bernie-sanders-identity-politics-class-race-debate

Then stuff about the kibbutz in Israel where went after college and got his ideas and some communism.

Kept name of kibbutz secret. Israeli newspapers outed him.

"Now that Bernie Sanders has become a serious candidate for president, it is inevitable that the media will pay attention to every aspect of his life. In 1963, when Sanders traveled to Israel to work on a kibbutz there were scores of American Jewish students who also volunteered. So it is rather strange that Sanders has consistently refused to tell the press about his time there and the kibbutz he worked on. When asked, he and his campaign dodged the issue."

Says the kibbutz is where Bernie got his 'ideals' 50+ years ago.

"She acknowledges that Sanders’ time there might be when he “apparently sharpened his socialist ideals a half-century ago.” Zeveloff adds that they “had a strong admiration for the Communist system in the Soviet Union.” They heard about the Soviet gulags, but considered that news to be false reports from renegades. No wonder they proudly flew a red flag at outdoor kibbutz events. We also learn that relatively few people volunteered at the kibbutzim affiliated with Hashomer Hatzair before 1967, making Sanders’ 1963 visitation a rare exception among American volunteers."

Tonight I google kibbutz inspiration Dov Ber Borochov and get:

"A key part of Borochovian ideology was that the Arab and Jewish working classes had a common proletarian interest and would participate in the class struggle together once Jews had returned to Palestine."

WHAT!

"...in Palestine in speeches towards the end of his life. Borochov insisted that he was a Social Democrat..."

WHAT! WHAT! ...WHAT!

"Borochov's vision of class struggle in Palestine was widely viewed as untenable by the 1910s..." "himself seemed to repudiate his former vision of class struggle in Palestine in speeches towards the end of his life. Borochov insisted that he was a Social Democrat..."

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ber_Borochov

Bernie is pushing Borochovian ideology that he picked up at the kibbutz and which was viewed as untenable and eventually repudiated by Borochov himself. Stole the name too.

This is too fucked up. He's a disruptor. That gets my vote.

That was in December thru beginning of January. Bernie down 5 points since then. Ooops.

One of the main attacks got blown up yesterday with Bernie's support of the crime bill exposed. Before it was Biden's sole fault.

Also: 'why did Bernie chain a black woman to himself."

He's so very Stalin in that. A Cuban friend of mine almost punched the screen when he saw that smug face say 'bread lines are a good thing.'

I'm doing voter outreach. Showing it to everyone. One view and it's over. No one loves Bernie.

Sanders a divisive figure who boasts that compromise is anathema to him, you're dealing with a divisive figure who alienates even people who like progressives.

The "unity" that Sanders and some of his supporters seem to want is conversion to belief in Bernie.

You can't unite people, including a political party, if you can't recognize that compromise is often necessary.
