My one and only thread on Joe Rogan.

No candidate can control who endorses them. However one can control a controversial one. A candidate can ignore or decline such an endorsement. It is in their hands to do so. That is their choice.

What you don't do is embrace one that you know hurts so many people. You don't fundraise off the hurt it causes and certainly should not do a campaign video in your name. I am sorry, this is tone deaf.

The man is a shock jock and said to be some sort of comedian. Frankly I find his LGBTQ, Racism and Misogynic comments insulting and against everything I stand for. I don't see the comedy that everyone tells me I should see.

Bernie has the right to chose. In my opinion he did not chose wisely.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

Yes, he did endorse those guys which is as Ezra Klein has pointed out why this this is such an interesting endorsement for Sanders:

Ezra Klein
@ezraklein
Bernie’s strength is that he can win over some voters who are skeptical of Democrats - like Joe Rogan. If you think getting Trump out of office is actually important, that’s a good thing, and he should lean into it.

Ezra Klein
@ezraklein
This’ll get me ratio’d or whatever but a lot of Twitter seems to want to enforce a politics where you only work or ally with people you agree almost totally with. but to get anything done in our system requires working with people you often disagree with.

Ezra Klein
@ezraklein
and Rogan isn’t even conservative. wait till the next Democratic president is back to cutting deals with Mitch McConnell, or desperately trying to get Lindsey Graham to vote for something...

Life is messy:

Here's the most frustrating thing to me, and you touched on this nicely: it's one thing for an individual to make a statement supporting a particular candidate, it's another thing completely to laud that statement and play this is as a reason to vote for your campaign.

This whole mess is driven by a craven attempt to garner more votes. That may seem like a harsh statement, but why else would you celebrate the "endorsement" of an individual who has shown himself repeatedly to be a misogynistic, racist, homophobic, transphobic "personality". To twist yourself into a pretzel to say things like "Well we're clearly reaching across the spectrum, don't we have a big tent"? I'm sorry but welcoming someone who has those beliefs is a slap in the face to women, people of color, and the LGBT community. Just stop. If we want to win in 2020, we need to turn out our base and this type of move is counterproductive to accomplishing that goal.

Bernie has shown a weakness in regards to issues he views as "identity politics" and seems to see everything through the prism of "class warfare". He has more diverse support than he had in 2016, but this move only serves to reiterate feelings that people already had about his campaign.

If I were to vote in a presidential

This exactly. The campaign slogan is 'Not me, Us!' There seems to be a qualifier put on the word US...some of us and not all of us. Concern for identity politics is nil. He seeks out the white male working class and alienates the core Democratic base. His joyous embrace of Rogan saddens me.
