Pretty soon it's going to be impossible to tell which ones are parodies.
On edit: This very thread has turned into a pile-on of the very kind of anti-Bernie attacks that these tweets are parodying. Life imitates art!

(8,231 posts)getting nothing done but at least your guy is in office. Suddenly the ACA isn't worthy of consideration or building upon.
The ACA was convincing people across the land that people ...all people need healthcare. Even people covered need to be protected. You can keep your kids on until 26...DEMOCRATS DID THAT. That gets through even to deplorables.
I'm sick of wasted words and faux accomplishments. I've voting for a DEMOCRAT GOT THAT.

That's why we were going in the right direction with the ACA but suddenly that's not good at all. Oh it doesn't cover everybody ..yes I understand so you'd rather have it torn down and then how many people will be covered. ????
I'm sick of the pie in the sky crap....GET REAL...This is reality and look around at what we still have to deal with in this country. THE DEMOCRATS not the independants paid the price for passing the ACA...we got reamed but WE GOT IT DONE...unlike Sanders.

(32,640 posts)Sanders didn't inherit that wisdom from Kennedy, apparently.
Ted Kennedy said that one of the biggest regrets of his career was not sitting down with Nixon to talk health care reform, because Democrats told him to walk away from anything other than single payer.... back in 1971.
Nixon was proposing a plan that was to the left of the ACA.
Kennedy said that if he had stayed at the table, we might have something much closer to what Canada has now.
That "My way or the highway" attitude killed what might have made all this current effort and division unneccessary.
Those who don't learn from history are destined to repeat it

I support Warren, yet disagree with M4A at this point in time. We need to build on a good plan and make it stronger.

And it's not like others haven't made similar observations for years.
Mickey Hirten, the editor of the Burlington Free Press when Bernie was mayor has written about similar experiences that people in Vermont had with Bernie since before Congress.
When one is applying for a job, and can't recommendations from their colleagues for a promotion, that usually isn't a sign that they are popular among their colleagues.
Also, he apparently blessed the release of this video, which is clearly trying to spin being terse and curt with people into a strength.

(20,709 posts)He said that would happen if the funding mechanism wasn't changed. Obviously. That's what Single Payer is. The title of that tweet dishonestly left out the part about the change of funding mechanism. The whole clip was part of a discussion about Canada's Single Payer healthcare system and why it was so much more efficient than ours. To portray that as Bernie saying Single Payer can't work is just absurd.
You see what I'm getting at, right? I mean, eventually after this happens enough times, people who aren't already predisposed to hating Bernie just kind of get used to the daily stream of totally dishonest attacks on Bernie that come from centrist or right-wing twitter accounts. (20,709 posts)Obviously, you can't have single payer in the US without changing the funding mechanism. It's a whole change to the system.
Beyond that, think for a second. Back then Bernie was even more socialist than now. Does it make any sense whatsoever that he would be against single payer in 1987? Of course not! This is common sense. I mean, at least they should pretend to find a video saying Bernie wanted to abolish private property. From what I watched it is true. It also isn't the first time that this has happened.
2) One about Bernie's rowdy supporters
It is true, five people were arrested for protesting at one of Biden's campaign office and they were so proud of their protest that they posted it on social media. They are fortunate that there was no physical violence and the Biden team should be commended for maintaining their professionalism.
3) One about something Bernie said 30+ years ago

DanTex
(20,709 posts)My view is it's better to start with bold solutions and negotiate them down than it is to start with half-measures.
To say the plan would "destroy the economy" is the usual fear-mongering about climate and the economy that anti-climate people have been peddling for decades.
And the larger problem is, when the same centrists and conservatives have been writing dishonest articles attacking Bernie over and over again, their credibility gets strained. Eventually people who don't already hate Bernie aren't going to go through each one on the off chance that this one attack isn't as nonsensical as the other 20 that came before it.
And I can tell you that this is actually happening. I'm sure that in the anti-Bernie circles, every one of these looks like a devastating blow, even that 1987 single payer thing that ignores the funding mechanism. But believe me, outside of that, it looks very different.
I did not start out this election cycle pro-Bernie. I don't even know if I'm pro-Bernie now, I just want to beat Trump. What has me defending Bernie is the sheer volume and absurdity of attacks thrown at him. And I'm not the only one.

Voters are fairly clear about what they would like from a Democrat. They prefer, by 82% to 11%, one who promises to find common ground over one who promises to fight for a progressive agenda; and they prefer a moderate over a liberal, 75% to 19%.
They support Biden over the president, 38% to 27%, but prefer the president to Warren, 37% to 20%. Sanders is in between, with the president leading him, 34% to 32%. This group voted for Trump by a smaller margin in 2016, 37% to 30%, with the rest casting ballots for minor candidates.

Biden has had to face the sitting president who has proven himself willing to break the law and face impeachment in the process. Sorry if not everyone has the time to deal with Sanders feeling besmirched. Hes in second place because the polled voters put him there based on his ideas an performance. He has the chance to man up and make changes but there are things way more important than him going on as we type

(5,401 posts)At least, until you can verify that:
Such comments are written by human beings, specifically, Americans seriously concerned about the next election.
Specific facts quoted are verified to be accurate and relevant.
Comments don't come from trolls, stirrers, outside influences aimed at stirring things up, and of course . . . . bots!
Until then, ignore, avoid, do not respond.

(102,292 posts)It is with some (and I think it a small minority) of his campaign staff and supporters. They do him no favors acting as they do. He doesn't seem to be reigning them in. That will hurt in the long run.

(145,321 posts)Without caucuses in a good number of states, sanders will have problems due to fact that Joe is a far stronger general election candidate compared to a weak candidate like sanders

The most important dynamic for Biden is that the race is rapidly narrowing to Biden vs. Sanders. Once promising candidates have dropped out (Kamala Harris, Corey Booker). Former South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg and Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) were not able to sustain their momentary polling jumps. For Buttigieg and Warren, their moment has passed it is very rare that voters return to candidates they sampled and rejected. Too bad for Warren that newspaper endorsements are worthless. That leaves Joe and Bernie.
Make no mistake, Sanders is a tough out. His supporters are dedicated and wont abandon him, even if he starts to lag. Sanders leads most polls in Iowa (but not all) and will certainly win New Hampshire.
But Sanders has two problems. First, Democratic voters view Biden as a stronger candidate against Donald Trump and put beating the president as their number one priority (69 percent to 31 percent). Democratic voters view Biden as a winner against Trump, with 65 percent thinking he can win to 13 percent who think he cant, while Sanders only polls 52 percent to 26 percent. Both totals top the Democratic field.
Second, the Democrats nomination process has become much less favorable for Sanders by replacing caucuses with primaries. Sanders ability to string out the 2016 nomination contest was propped up by caucuses. He won 11 of 13 caucuses he only lost Iowa (barely) and Nevada, which were very high turnout caucuses. After Nevada, caucus turnout fell significantly, leaving the process dominated by progressive activists and thus benefiting Sanders.
