Unity Pledge

Due to some health reasons, I've been away from all news and political sites for about 6 weeks. I am playing a little catch up trying to figure out what's going on in the world now.

One thing that I'm picking up on is it seems that once again the Democratic party seems to be ripping itself apart in the primary and it upsets me enough to want to withdraw again.

In 2016 I voted for Bernie in the primaries and voted without reservations for Hillary Clinton in the general election.

This year, I'm not 100% sure who I'll vote for in the primaries, in part because my state goes so late in the season that candidates drop out by then, currently I'm fairly certain it isn't Bernie.

However, I pledge that if he gets the nomination I will wholeheartedly support him and work toward him being elected.

I'm begging others, please, no matter how fervently you support and campaign for your candidate in the primary and no matter how much you love them, if they do not get the nomination, please vote for the nominee in the general election. Be angry. Be upset. Hate the candidate if you want, but vote for them. We already know what the alternative will be.

Please, we cannot afford another 2016. We just can't.

It's what we do, and it I've seen no data supporting the premise that doing as such works against Dems in the general.

As for voting blue no matter who... absolutely, I'll vote for any Democrat running against idiot-trump, even the guy who wears the label only when it conveniences his agenda.

I supported Bernie in the 2016 primaries, but wholeheartedly supported Hillary beginning the day the primaries were over. This time I am undecided, but not inclined to vote for Bernie this time, in large part because I was very disappointed by his refusal to concede for over a month after the primaries were over in 2016 and his half-hearted support of Hillary in the general election. It makes me angry because she was a class act after she conceded to Obama in 2008 and she deserved the same from Bernie in 2016.

Like you, I am in a late primary state so I may not get much of a vote, although the past two contested primary seasons (2008 and 2016) the late states have mattered more than they used to.

For the first time since I was old enough to vote, I am not getting invested in a candidate in the primaries this time (at least not yet), but I will definitely support the eventual nominee. Not that it will matter in a state where the Democratic nominee usually gets at least 60% or close to it.

primary today, I would vote for:
