5. I agree with Mayor Pete-trump would easily destroy a weak candidate like sanders
Sun Feb 2, 2020, 01:20 PM
Feb 2020

In addition to the well written 101 page memorandum with oppo on sanders with a 1000 pages of backup from the Clinton campaign trump has his own oppo file on sanders that would destroy such a weak and divisive candidate like sanders. Trump had a two foot thick book of oppo research on Sanders http://www.newsweek.com/myths-cost-democrats-presidential-election-521044

They ignored the fact that Sanders had not yet faced a real campaign against him. Clinton was in the delicate position of dealing with a large portion of voters who treated Sanders more like the Messiah than just another candidate. She was playing the long game—attacking Sanders strongly enough to win, but gently enough to avoid alienating his supporters. Given her overwhelming support from communities of color—for example, about 70 percent of African-American voters cast their ballot for her—Clinton had a firewall that would be difficult for Sanders to breach....

So what would have happened when Sanders hit a real opponent, someone who did not care about alienating the young college voters in his base? I have seen the opposition book assembled by Republicans for Sanders, and it was brutal. The Republicans would have torn him apart. And while Sanders supporters might delude themselves into believing that they could have defended him against all of this, there is a name for politicians who play defense all the time: losers....

The Republicans had at least four other damning Sanders videos (I don’t know what they showed), and the opposition research folder was almost 2-feet thick. (The section calling him a communist with connections to Castro alone would have cost him Florida.) In other words, the belief that Sanders would have walked into the White House based on polls taken before anyone really attacked him is a delusion built on a scaffolding of political ignorance.

sanders was such a weak primary candidate that the Clinton campaign did not use its oppo but trump would have fun destroying such a weak candidate like sanders

Trump, by varying margins, to none of our top candidates beating him, instead losing by varying margins.

And there are a hell of a lot of polls with some of our top candidates beating him and some losing to him.

The only real consistency in the polls is that in almost all of them, Biden does better against Trump than our other candidates do.

I believe that making Senator Bernie Sanders the nominee would increase the chances of Trump winning. The people who I believe can beat Trump include the following:

Joe Biden
Elizabeth Warren
Michael Bloomberg
Pete Buttigieg
Andrew Yang
Amy Klobuchar
Tom Steyer
Michael Bennet
Deval Patrick

The people that I have a real problem seeing a win against Trump include the following:

Tulsi Gabbard
Bernie Sanders

I even think that Tulsi Gabbard might have an easier time beating Trump than Bernie Sanders.

The energy is all on our side this time. I don't even hear about Tea Party anymore, which was a big force in 2016.
But Trump will hold 60 rallies before election day all over the country, and only Warren, Buttigieg & Klobuchar have the physical stamina to keep up with that pace. It is going to be a very physically strenuous campaign.

It's not about voting for the democratic nominee. I'm pretty sure everyone here is going to do that. It's about having people lead the party who's allegiance to the democratic party is tenuous at best.

Trump's 4 years is bring instability and worry to people like never before. And there so much anxiety about the election this year. THAT isn't the status quo; we are regressing to the 1950's.

Additionally, we have been wanting big change for awhile now. Obama won on change because of GWB and his shitty war. If anything, excitement and promise is what get people to the polls- NEVER status quo.
