Undecided, but guilty of "identity politics."
I confess. I want a woman - not a Tulsi Gabbard, but certainly an Elizabeth Warren or an Amy Klobuchar.
It's easy to pretend we're all "post-feminist" and gender doesn't matter, but we aren't, and it does. Growing up female in America comes with a whole different set of experiences than growing up male, especially for those of us old enough to remember the struggle.
The challenges of workplace and other discrimination, harassment, motherhood, economic survival, healthcare, social and educational issues affect women in specific ways.
In my view, some women enjoy being past-all-that, self-congratulatory that they're so woke they're with the man. Others are so frightened by what happened to HRC, that despite the Women's March, despite #MeToo, despite 2018, they won't trust OTHER women to vote for a woman against Trump!!
It makes me sad that this is supposedly about "policy." No - since the president can't issue policy by decree anyway, it's about the image of policy positions. It was not about policy in 2008, or in 2004, or in 2016.
I want to see a woman speaking, negotiating, forging alliances, setting priorities.
And YES she can win. We only have to vote for her.
