Laurence Tribe: Joe Biden is a warm, empathetic Everyman. For his humane qualities to doom him would

be tragic.

Poor @JoeBiden. If this sort of thing sinks his nascent candidacy, it’ll be a sad comment on how the road to hell can be paved with the best of intentions. Joe is a warm, empathetic Everyman. For his humane qualities to doom him would be tragic.

We should learn from the Franken debacle and not let people with their own agendas fuck things up again. I don't know whether Biden will be my first choice but I sure as hell don't want him driven away because of this bullshit.

Biden is a good man, full stop. As a woman myself,I think that these two women’s criticisms are absurd, and I can’t help but wonder about their ulterior motives.

In the political arena one is going to be exposed to a multitude of human emotions and experiences. There are going to be highs and lows, hand shaking, high-fives and other exuberant behavior. You will be cheered and booed. You will be subjected to uncomfortable questions and will sometimes give uncomfortable answers. You will have to endure a sometimes brutal schedule; rain, snow or shine. During a campaign you will oft times be surrounded by people of all walks and yes, sometimes you will even be hugged and touched.

If you cannot handle even one of these scenarios, much less all of them, then maybe choosing a life as an elected public official is not a wise career choice for you. I'm of the opinion that this Lucy Flores woman is either playing a dangerous political game or she has some personal issues she needs to sort out.

What people are mostly objecting to is his personality. Folks who can’t stand someone who isn’t as cold as they are.

I think that’s why Beto has engendered so much hatred by some here. He’s a positive guy. A lot of people resent that. They’d rather see everything framed negatively. The objections about policy are mostly bullshit and a front.

she wants attention-- after multiple failed campaigns of her own (including a high profile one in which Biden came to try to help her)-- and that she is motivated to ensure Biden doesn't run.

No longer will I refrain from calling this out. She is no "heroine" of anything. Her conflation of non-sexual affection and support from a kindly and sensitive man with the actual sexual abusive behavior (that ME-TOO was meant to address) is unconscionable. My scorn extends to all the pundits that are likewise trying to conflate efforts to give women accusers the unbiased, credulous hearing that they do deserve with unquestioning acceptance, no matter whether the facts "fit" or not.

Some are beginning to question her motivations and it is way past time, IMO. We seemed to learn NOTHING from RW radio host LeAnn Tweeden and her conflation of a joke to paint Al Franken into some kind of sexual monster.

Should Biden, like Franken learn from the change in attitudes and ensure that all contact is welcomed? Yes. But should we make it unacceptable for support and celebration or comfort to come from a simple touch to the shoulder by someone who genuinely cares? Good gawd, no. If someone feels that uncomfortable about ANY physical contact (and clearly there are those who do for very good reasons), let the other person know politely and firmly. That's what a decent person does--not go running to the media and play right into the hands of Trump and his allies or others who want to harm the likes of a well-intentioned person like Biden.

Enough!

I see that anger all over the internet. Biden is so likeable and has had such a long public life "in the aquarium" that these non-stories are going to make him stronger.
