Michael Bloomberg is opening 11 additional field offices in Texas ahead of Super Tuesday

Hoping to capitalize on the muddled results of the Iowa caucuses, billionaire Michael Bloomberg is releasing a new slate of Texas endorsements and taking a big step this weekend toward opening nearly 20 offices in the state as Texas prepares for its primary March 3.

Bloomberg’s campaign unveiled an endorsement list that includes three state representatives, several former mayors and some city council members. His campaign also said it plans to open 11 additional field offices throughout the state this weekend, pressing forward on plans to expand the campaign’s footprint into the largest operation of any Democratic presidential candidate in Texas.

Bloomberg’s latest endorsers include some who’ve announced their support in recent days and some making it known for the first time Wednesday — including state Rep. Julie Johnson, D-Carrollton, who’ll serve as a state co-chair for the campaign. One of the state lawmakers on the list, state Rep. Cesár Blanco, D-El Paso, previously supported the failed presidential bids of both Beto O’Rourke and Julián Castro. State Rep. Joe Deshotel, D-Beaumont, also announced his support for Bloomberg on Wednesday.

Some already-announced names on the list include former Houston Mayor Bill White, former El Paso Mayor John Cook and Travis County Commissioner Jeff Travillion — all Democrats.

He’s the one person Trump can’t bully. The one person Trump would debate who could make him spin out in full view. 11. You don't think we can do better than this?
Fri Feb 7, 2020, 12:00 AM
Feb 2020

"We disproportionately stop whites too much and minorities too little".

We have to raise the bar higher for our party. We're better than this. We MUST be better than this. This is a middle finger in the face of the thousands of POC who were profiled and had their civil rights violated under Bloomberg's then beloved and vigorously defended (by him) stop-and-frisk program. We would never forgive anyone else for something as egregious and blatantly racist as this in their past. Why does Bloomberg get a pass? The relatively recent appearance of a (D) next to Bloomberg's name along with a scripted apology can't whitewash this.

We need POC to come to the polls in large if not record numbers this November. If it isn't obvious by now, Bloomberg is not the man to get that done. Not with his past. It's insulting to the very people we need more than ever now.

Joe Biden, Elizabeth Warren, Pete Buttigieg, and, yes, my guy Bernie, are all infinitely better than this man. PLEASE let's not compromise everything our party has stood for since the 1960s by nominating a billionaire oligarch who was not only responsible for the countless documented civil rights abuses of stop-and-frisk, but supported G.W. Bush TWICE for President.

Please let's be better than this.

I simply, and genuinely, do not believe it will happen.

If he runs against Trump, the electoral college, not the popular vote, will give us four more years of Trump and the end of everything the United States of America ever stood for.

In a perfect world we could afford to take our chances and run Bernie or another progressive against Generic GOP Candidate. Maybe someday we can do that. We cannot take a chance in November 2020. We can’t let the perfect be the enemy of the good... or of our survival as a country.

And the others candidates are better than he'd be , and some of his policies are nothing I would support . Stop and Frisk was a game breaker he used , and that alone makes it bad for anyone wanting unbiased justice . that's what we have now , trump justice where the rule of law is ignored unless he approves it against someone who won't praise him. Putin does this in russia too. A political hit list like Nixon used.

What he did to minorities in nyc should NOT BE FORGOTTEN so easily

Cheato is such a nightmare, any of our candidates that have done this the fair way can and WILL beat him

What message does Bloomberg buying the election send?

To be president in the future will just require money and stealing ideas/slogans?

It boggles my mind that this man is being given an unconditional pass by many here for the years of documented civil rights abuses against POC that were committed under his administration as mayor.

The rotten cherry on top of this rancid cake was Bloomberg's support for Dumbya Bush TWICE for President, a man who was only marginally less despised here at DU during his lamentable eight year reign as President than Dotard is today. What planet am I living on?
