(17,390 posts)True. I don't have a bunch of tools to mass post a series of anti-Democratic memes.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2020/01/24/facebook-is-inflaming-divides-tearing-democratic-party/
Matt Walters, 64, a retired factory worker and supporter of Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), shared the image onward to eight Facebook groups and tens of thousands of potential eyeballs with a few taps on his smartphone using a popular new mass-posting technique that allows ordinary Americans to operate with rapid-fire speed reminiscent of Russian bots and trolls in 2016.
In that small way, Walters contributed to a massive wave of hostile memes about Sanderss Democratic rivals that both reflects the rising divisiveness in the partys nominating contest and, in the view of social media experts, exacerbates it.
Id call it a force multiplier, Walters, a onetime union activist, said of Facebook.

(25,485 posts)It seems like trying to promote him.
What Trump says shouldn't influence anyone on the left, but let's not pretend that this is "worried about Bernie". It's pretty clear that Trump would prefer to run against him. The secondary goal is to jack up Sanders supporters with the "rigged" nonsense and create division.

(21,617 posts)Trump is ready with fear-mongering rhetoric about socialism and communism.
Would be an interesting first for Americsn presidential campaigns, though. Socialist vs. fascist.

(3,363 posts)And Obama was called a Socialist for 8 years. Bernie already said he supports the Nordic model which is actually regulated Capitalism with a strong social safety net and it's the best economic system in the world.
I think Biden's issues with Ukraine and Hunter are going hurt him more than Socialism lies will hurt Bernie.

(21,617 posts)people between 35 and 65?
Most people today don't know the difference between regulated capitalism and communism. In the Bush II years, people were buying the neocon spin that fascism was left wing. Obama opposition sold him as a socialist, fascist communist, and simultaneously both atheist and Muslim. An amazing number of people believed it. I know because I debated with them online and in person.
I am not afraid of well regulated capitalism. I understand what it is. Although born after WW2, I lived under the legacy of FDR's regulations in my early work years. I worked for a subsidiary of a utility company then. Part of my job involved knowing and upholding the regulations. Those were prosperous years for the nation.
I personally have no fear of Sanders, Warren, or AOC. But many people do, e.g. those who never experienced the regulated economy that I did. They grew up in the Reagan and Bush years when trickle down economics was taught in the schools. They believe that we defeated the Soviet Union with it.

(189 posts)How is it even remotely "winning Trump's backing" if Trump says looks like theyre going to do it to him again, doesnt it? re the DNC? He's just trying to create dissension. As a Sanders supporter, I don't want Trump's false pity.
