Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumI will vote for the winner of our process hands down.. but
I have high hopes for a couple or people who are just intrinsically better at dealing with a raging narcissist. We are running against a character whose reality changes from second to second and is in the hip pocket of one our greatest enemies who wants to see us destroyed. (Putin)
I went to hear Susan Rice Wed at Iowa City.. and she just scared to living you know what out of me. At how we are so gutted in our government with the people who work on the international stage. They are leaving and will be out of the loop because they are working at other jobs. We have lost so much talent. Talent that takes years to build, that is not there in a 2 or 3 or even 8 year period. It is going to be so difficult to get it back up and running
And if Trump gets a second term, even she does not see how we get it back. The Russians will have destroyed our way of life from the inside, and these are my words, not hers. like a parasite.
I have real fears for some in the race because they have a history of not being able to work well with others. And that is frightening to me, but I will vote for them and pray for guidance.

(16,685 posts)What I tell myself and anyone else who continues to lose sight of the big picture and get lost in the weeds on policy arguments is that our qualified and impartial judiciary was appointed by both centrists and liberals. We MUST keep sight of that. That's one of the few things holding in our current situation.

America will be lost for a generation if not forever.
I'm not worried about you or me or any others here at DU about voting for the Dem nominee. I'm worried about Independents, never trumper's and sane GOP'ers who we will need to defeat Trump. Not all top tier Dem candidates will be able to get those demographics. That is what worries me.

(22,879 posts)There is another thing that people are just not focusing on... The "perception" of the economy. Today alone I have heard that 63% of people are happy with the economy..and that will be a hard thing to beat for our candidates whose main focus is the economy.
Health Care is still a huge issue, but MFA has not been knocking it out of the park because of the costs.
The one thing that has everyone on all sides chilled to the bone is the foreign policy aspects that this President has totally destroyed. That is where we will get people to sign on with us.
