(9,696 posts)Iowa is a wake up call.
The turnout was low. A shady company owned by a shady pac developed the app. The republicans jammed the call-in lines. The media keeps calling Iowa to total disaster even though the caucuses themselves went smoothly.
Welcome to 2020.

(4,131 posts)The phone line shouldnt have been public. The phone line should have been secured behind a pin code as well. These are incredibly simple, basic things.
The fact that the app wasnt tested properly before hand and that we lacked a secure backup system is totally on us.

(90 posts)There was some changes this year in Iowa and I don't think they were prepared for the impact of those changes. It was a caucus too. And I think some other things were going on as well.
Keep in mind too, it wasn't all bad news in Iowa. We saw more young voters come out than did in 2016 and even 2008. And the other voters that did come out were very passionate.
I think we are going to see a good turnout in New Hampshire too, especially among young voters again.
