Congratulation Mayor Pete and his supporters on DU. YOU WON IOWA

“Pete Buttigieg has narrowly edged out Bernie Sanders for delegates from last week’s Iowa caucuses,” Politico reports.

“According to the state Democratic Party, Buttigieg is projected to win 14 delegates to the national convention this summer in Milwaukee, while Sanders will get 12 delegates. Warren will receive eight delegates, Joe Biden will get six, and Amy Klobuchar will receive a single delegate.”

Bernie got the most votes. On both allocations. Who “won” is I guess debatable, but based on the principle of whoever gets most votes wins an election, which I’m guessing most Dem voters would agree with, the winner is Bernie.

Not sure why people would even pretend that this is not the case.
And I'm pretty certain most would agree that the person with the majority of delegates will be the winner in the end.

The only thing that matters is delegates.

"I have no idea how this works but Bernie won" is not a compelling argument. It's a disingenuous assertion.

It shouldn't be up to debate, but I guess some people are trying to debate it.

So I guess all the people in the country who think that an election winner is the person who gets the most votes will come out if considering Bernie the winner.
And all the people who think that vote totals should be put through some weird formula to determine the winner will think it's Pete.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here, and say there's more people in the first category than the second.

caucus. It is not going to kill you to stop spinning for a minute and congratulate Mayor Pete for a close victory.

Bernie’s advocates on the unity commission fought hard to keep the Iowa Caucus over the suggestion that states move to Primaries. Senator Sanders knew exactly what he was getting into.

The people who think Bernie won are either deluding themselves or being willfully disingenuous.

It all starts with Sanders. He, of course, fully understands the process and yet chooses to lie about it, for reasons that only he knows.

Well, the reasons are obvious. Whatever it takes to win, including misleading his supporters into repeating a lie, making them look a little misinformed.

Sanders knows exactly how all of this works. He is flat-out lying about the only results that matter - the delegates.

Repeating the lie over and over and over again doesn't make it any less of an untruth. It is still quite simply false.

Even when the primary vote is used to allocate all the delegates. In multi CD states, which is most states, many delegates are given out by CD. Given that some CD's have lots of Democratic votes and others not so much, the number of delegates given out per district varies. Coupled with the 15% rule, that can lead to radically different splits from the same percentage of the vote. Depending upon turnout rates you could easily win CD with few delegates by more than you lost those with a lot of them but not have gained any delegates from the ones you won while your opponent(s) gain from those you lost.
