Nah, it's a movie quote with a hidden and inoffensive message behind it.

Google it, don't rely on a forum to educate you!

But the Trump/ Russia playbook of sowing the seeds of confusion and division is working, obviously, from the number of posts on this topic.

Only questions I have, is where the quote came from, and what Joe meant to convey by using it?

Narrator: [as the troop passes by] So here they are: the dog-faced soldiers, the regulars, the fifty-cents-a-day professionals... riding the outposts of a nation. From Fort Reno to Fort Apache - from Sheridan to Startle - they were all the same: men in dirty-shirt blue and only a cold page in the history books to mark their passing. But wherever they rode - and whatever they fought for - that place became the United States.

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0041866/quotes/qt0206383

So that accounts for some of the "lying dog-faced pony soldier" but not all of it. So it isn't quite a line from a movie.

likely lose. Sanders won't win a general...Warren and Klobachar are low and won't win the primary. None of the above have enough AA vote either. It is Biden or Bloomberg...not sure Bloomberg can win the blue wall states. I don't give two fucks who wins...I like Biden but if any of the others could do it, they would have my support. The bottom line is this, Trump is going to win if Biden isn't the candidate or maybe Bloomberg. We need blue wall states and since impeachment Trump is up in the polls higher than Obama was in 12...an incumbent is tough to beat. We don't have a candidate other than Biden who wins the Mid West...maybe Bloomberg but he is a New Yorker so who knows. This is a self inflicted wound. And it is a damn shame. I don't see how we even have a progressive movement for a decade or more (probably more) if Trump wins.

I am a bit astounded at the lengths some Biden supporters will go to defend the indefensible. I would like to think that if my own, preferred candidate stuck his foot in his mouth, I would graciously concede that he made an unforced error and then move on, hoping that he made no similar errors in the future. Some Biden supporters seem unable to do that. I appreciate your insistence upon civility (and a modicum of empathy) within the party.

Nothing. None of us learn anything about Bernie Sanders by repetitive threads by his supporters bashing the other candidates. One would think they'd realize that they're not gaining any support for THEIR candidate by bashing all of the others. At this point I'm seeing Sanders as pretty much a grouch, and many of his supporters are following that lead. I really hope we elect a President who will take our country in a POSITIVE direction. His audience laughed, so I guess they also knew he was joking. The only people who don't are those who don't want to know.

And because I enjoy learning, I also learned why he used that phrase. I'm not saying it was wise. It wasn't, because some people will jump all over it, refusing to see it for what it was. And those people aren't doing THEIR candidate any favors. How about instead of looking for any reason at all to bash, they tout their own candidate's good points. That's the kind of thing that could sway an undecided voter like me.

He could have used better words, but it was an appropriate response to someone whose motives in the confrontation we're less than honorable, and reflected badly upon her candidate of choice. As usual, after having invested so deeply and passionately in the attempt to smear Joe Biden, it is understandable that there is a reluctance to put the incident in proper context.

I think Mr. Biden felt too comfortable with his audience and said something person-to-person instead of staying completely professional. I heard that the young woman smiled and then I heard she was upset. Over the years, people have said things to me that I initially shook off, but then realized bothered me.

In the current political environment, none of our Democratic candidates can say anything that will be taken out of context, can't say anything that can be misconstrued, anything that isn't as bland as mayonnaise. Unfortunately, we are seeing in real time how things like this take over the news. We are no longer talking about thug traitor, our military in hostile countries, loss of allies, the environment, the whole slate of civil rights issues and all of the other issues that we should be talking about.

I like that we have so many candidates, because I thought that all of the different voices helped our entire party talk about issues in depth, and as we get closer to making the choice, the candidates and we the people will be better informed about what is facing us. I'm already tired of seeing emphasis on personality, focus on slips, and our candidates slamming each other instead of keeping the heat on thug traitor. We can do better. We must do better, candidates, media and voters.
