Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) will ask the Iowa Democratic Party to recanvass some precincts in the Iowa caucuses after reporters and others on Twitter pointed out irregularities in the final delegate calculations.
A Sanders campaign official confirmed to The Hill in an email that the campaign will seek a "partial" recanvass, but it wasn't immediately clear how many precincts would be contested.
The announcement comes shortly after the Iowa Democratic Party released updated totals for the state's caucuses held last week following days of uncertainty over the contest's winner.
Totals released by the party on Sunday indicated that former South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg (D) would receive two more pledged delegates from the contest than did Sanders -- 16 and 14, respectively. No other candidate won 10 or more delegates in the caucuses.

(35,688 posts)What a ridiculous request. The answer is I have a name and I would not post someone's information unless I asked them.
However, you can check around Twitter and find that the Sanders campaign has found some obvious discrepancies and they have until tomorrow at 1 p.m. to request a recanvass.
They will be doing so and are confident that the Bernie-Pete situation will be an even number of delegates.

(35,688 posts)My source did not give me the precinct numbers. I could ask, but then I'd be your research assistant, wouldn't I? So you can just wait until tomorrow.
If you would like to assume I'm full of %&@ until then, by all means do so. Especially if it makes you feel better about yourself.

In this youtube clip, where the lighting conditions are the same for all, Bernie looks very healthy and Biden and Warren look like they....urm, need to see a doctor soon and post new health reports. They are gray and ashen-faced.
We need updated reports on Biden and Warren....NOW.

I'm entitled to an explanation. After all, your candidate is closest to mine on issues and I just might switch my choice if anything were to happen to Bernie. I certainly don't want to go with someone who looks so obviously unhealthy and has a gray face.

Bernie's mind frame is focused on one goal: that of winning the nomination and beating Trump.
And where is your documentation on the economic demographics of who voted for Bernie? Post them if your statement is based on credible studies.

(11,605 posts)It's good that they were transparent with the results, and if there were errors they need to be corrected. Anyone who opposes this loses credibility in the event they get nominated and need to demand a recount in the general. We're Democrats - we want the votes counted properly. End of story.

(11,605 posts)It seems like the reporting problems only happened at some precincts. I don't object to recanvassing everything, but it seems like a bit of a waste if there were no problems at certain precincts.

Your full recanvass request is easy to make, since you wouldn't be doing the work. If you were doing the work or footing the bill for it, I have a feeling we'd be hearing a different story out of you.

Think how different our American history would be if the recount in 2000 had proceeded. If the Supreme Court, instead of stepping in to stop the recount, had told everyone to back off until we had a confident tally of the votes.
