133. Salt does not cause high blood pressure
Mon Feb 10, 2020, 10:43 PM
Feb 2020

Long distance runners chew on salt tablets, and they have lower than average blood pressures.
What causes high blood pressure is hardened arteries.

Think of a rubber hose versus a hard plastic pipe. If pressure inside the hose in increased, the hose expands, and the pressure rise is mitigated. Do the same in a hard plastic pipe, and the pressure sky rockets.

Ingesting salt increases fluid volume in arteries, and the hardened arteries can not expand to relieve pressure.
Best way to keep blood pressure normal is regular exercise until you sweat. It makes the arteries stronger and more flexible and you get rid of some salt through sweat.

....to check my liver function. Been on Lipitor for probably 25 years or so, still no issues (but one thing I can't drink is grapefruit juice, my FAVORITE juice!!!)

What's interesting is that just about any medication eventually winds up potentially affecting the kidneys and liver, even Tylenol and other over the counter medications.

My two conditions (high blood pressure and high cholesterol) can both be lessened by exercise, to the point that if I was really physically oriented I could probably do away with the drugs to treat them.

It's funny, just about everyone I talk to in my age group (early '70s) has both of those issues. Just a problem of getting old.

Mon Feb 10, 2020, 11:19 PM
Feb 2020

I had 155/90 numbers in my 50's. And I had hip joint pain, panic attacks in closed areas such as malls,
rapid heart beats, fainting spells....I was a physical wreck heading for catastrophic consequences with my life style of stressful job and no time or energy for exercise.

So...I resigned at age 57, moved to a cheaper living cost area, and began an exercise routine which I would not get bored of and quit. For me it was walking 6 miles on each round of golf 3 or 4 times every week. My 80th birthday is next month, and I feel amazingly good. Quit golf at age 75, and now it is the gym every other day. If I stop going to the gym treadmill, the end will come quickly. Too many in my family died early of heart attacks.

You have complained to me several times when I have posted an OP that I missed because it fell off the page about things being posted more than once with this has already been posted. I even deleted one OP because a couple weeks ago because a person I ignore posted it. That leads up to this:

Here's what I noticed, after you posting in those two seperate threads by different people on Bernie's health records you started a brand new OP on Bernie's medical records. I have seen you posting polls with your candidate in the lead like they are words from an oracle.

Please excuse me if I don't read your post claiming you don't, because I know you do. Have a great day George.

125. Autumn, what do medical records have to do with a National Poll's results? Since you won't read it..
Mon Feb 10, 2020, 06:35 PM
Feb 2020

That post explained the reason why I posted about national polls more than a month ago. It was because people were gushing over a particular national poll taken by itself, not an overall average. But of course some (not referring to you) go back, take a post out of context (even though no doubt the context was known) to post a weak "gotcha" that proved nothing.

MOST of the time, when I've posted poll results, they were for individual states, not national polls. Since I said "most of the time" (not "never&quot I'm sure someone (again, not referring to you) will go scurrying off to find other instances where I've posted national polls and try to throw it in my face.

Thankfully most people here, even those that don't agree with me, see through those attempts.

Mon Feb 10, 2020, 03:17 PM
Feb 2020

And the GE polling done by Quinnipiac shows Bloomberg doing better against Trump than Sanders does.

Biden may very well rebound in the polls later. It's been working against him that the first two states to vote are so unrepresentative.

But if he doesn't, Bloomberg will pick up the votes of moderate and somewhat liberal Dems, and he'll roll right over Sanders on his way to rolling right over Trump.

And if Biden does rebound, I expect Bloomberg to help him.

One thing about Sanders: he usually does what he says he's going to do. With 40 years to back it up. I think that's half the reason his base is so gung-ho about him; they have a reasonable expectation that he's going to fight for them because he's spent his career doing so.

National polling does not matter. Look at Hillary Clinton as a prime example. What matters is FLIPPING 3 states. Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania. Until there is multiple polls showing Bernie crushing it I those states I would hold off on announcing the inauguration. When are democrats gonna realize that the popular vote doesn’t matter, all that matters is the electoral college.

Biden, Bloomberg, Sanders are all over 75. Warren is 70. Will Trump's liabilities of age rub off on our candidates? In a perverse and unfair way, that could happen.

Bernie would beat Trump by +4 in Wisconsin, +5 in Michigan, and +5 in PA according to the most recent available polls which are limited this early. Wisconsin has the highest rated poll of the 3 showing a Bernie win there.

March 3. On March 4, we can all talk again when we look at the delegate count after Super Tuesday. All of this is way premature.

Also, notice that new name in the polls at #3. That candidate is really just getting started.

I get it... polls are valid and relevant when they support your bias. They are however, questionable and irrelevant when they don't.

But even with my skepticism about polls . . .

108. since Bloomie bought his way into this primary

and can stay in until the end because he's got endless resources...can use that money to pull campaign workers from other candidates because he's paying them all so much more..... can afford to buy out all the advertising in many markets to get his numbers up and his name recognition polling numbers up....sometimes bumping ad space in those markets from other candidates who don't have his war chest to compete....isn't it fair to say that he MUST appear on the debate stage with all the other remaining candidates....or can he just buy his nomination without having to appear and be challenged by anyone for the voting public to see? The fact that the rules were changed for him in mid primary to be on the debate stage....but now, for some reason he's purring along without any signs he plans on debating....seems pretty FUBAR to me....not only unfair to all the candidates that had to drop out because they were playing by the rules previous to the change...Corey, Kamala, and Julian.....but also unfair to all the remaining candidates....because Mike Bloomberg gets to create his candidacy through his advertisements and never has to be asked difficult questions about his very recent comments policies, past allegiances, and endorsements etc. ahead of South Carolina and maybe Super Tuesday. You want the nod Bloomie, get on the debate stage and earn it.

That means that 75% of the Dems. don't want him which is "crushing" to Sanders. Second, the big headline from that poll is that Bloomberg is only 10 points behind Sanders and has not even been on the debate stage yet.

They clearly can't all be right.

Whether this one poll is an aberration or indicative of a trend remains to be seen. I wouldn't put much faith in it, even though Q is a solid poll, until there's some corroboration.
