So what is holding Klobuchar back?

I've always thought she had the fewest negatives in a battle with Trump of any of the Dem candidates. Her only negatives, as far as I can see, are her sex, her height (sort of joking), and the fact that she got mad at a staff member and ate her salad with a comb.

Being a woman doesn't count anymore, since Hillary beat trump in the head count, even fighting the headwind of the trumped up (sic) e-mail "scandal." 2018 proved that.

As for height, and I'm not really totally joking here, I think a woman has the advantage with Trump because of lower expectations. No one cares if Amy or Elizabeth are shorter or quieter or take up less space.

Then, I thinking eating your salad with a comb, in the absence of a fork is resourceful.

Note, I'm still backing Warren, in hopes that a mini-revolution wave will crest, but I'm getting less hopeful all the time.

What are her other negatives????

According to the story.

It was a staff joke until the article. I actually know and grew up with several of her former staffers.

Yes the staff washed the dishes. After her constituent Thursday brunches.
Yes a binder slid off the desk after she threw it down.

She has a temper. But she only lets it out when she feels safe. My friends took it more of a badge of honor that she let it show when she was around. But others they tell me didn't.

She had a very high rate of poaching. The Obama administration alone pull something like 125% of her staff. She also has a higher rate of first time staffers the most.

But I think the fact that she almost disappears in a way is actually an advantage. She has somehow escaped all the Mommy-issue stuff that gets dumped on women who are leaders. I've never heard anyone complain about her voice, which is where the misogyny really shows.

Just that one thing about being cranky with staff--using the fork was part of it. Mommy issues.

The fact that she somehow disappears would make it possible to come in quietly and strategically as VP with someone who has the real chance of winning against Trump--and bingo. Double win.

Maybe she did throw a binder at someone, and maybe she did eat salad with a comb (hope she washed it first...). LBJ did a lot worse.

She has this "just get-it-done" attitude that we need these days. And she has worked across the table for years with a good legislative record.

Now that the field is thinning, the quiet one with serious resolve is getting noticed, so lets see if she can keep it up. The only serious check to her rise seems to be Bloomberg, who's a serious check to everyone else, too.

I suppose, if one were to nitpick. All she has is a breadth and depth of policy knowledge certainly befitting a president, empathy for fellow human beings, and a working knowledge of how policy actually gets enacted in DC. All that is coupled with a high degree of education and some midwestern humility. Competition, recognition, maybe a touch of gender are what's been holding her back IMO, but if she gets a good result tomorrow (3rd or higher) maybe she can start to mount an actual challenge.

Joe Biden

That is inspiring to me. Certainly after the dumpster fire Trump is.

She gets drowned out on a crowded stage.

Also, when you think about who the pundits consist of, it's east coasters and maybe west coasters. The "Minnesota nice" thing doesn't necessarily appeal to us.

If the field were to narrow between her and 1 other candidate, I think people would finally "see" her.

If you think I’m doing someone else’s dirty work and providing negatives, you are out of your mind.
Why give trolls dirt? No thank you!

She’s competent, smart, empathetic, capable. NO NEGATIVES.

As for eating her salad with her comb? Damn RESOURCEFUL AND GRITTY. My kind of girl!
LOVE IT!
(And why wouldn’t she ask the aide to clean it? Who wants a comb covered in salad stuff?)

Yup, my neighborhood Dems like her lots!

No negatives! Especially compared to the BIG ORANGE ZERO.

makes me think that she has some vengeance/temper issues. Sure, not on the scale of IMPOTUS, but enough to have her down on my list. I, too, wish Warren was doing better.

Interesting to hear about her staff turnover, doesn't surprise me.

She is supportive for the most part and has NEVER DISPLAYED ONE IOTA of anger.

Never.

Not once.

Others have said more and harsher. She is as even tempered as it gets.

At first I thought it was just her being uncomfortable...I know lots of people who kind of giggle when they are nervous, but it has happened each time she attacked people in the debate.

Remember, we are all just voters who are trying to size up the candidates based on our own impressions and opinions. There is no reason to imply that someone is using "bullpucky", which I assume is a bad thing.

57. Amy needed a small field

She's not bombastic. She didn't have long term name recognition. She's not a vicious prosecutor type in the senate. She's not considered far left.

So basically anything that would have given a jump in the build up, she did not have.

Our primary voters are not particularly good handicappers so they predictably devalued Amy's strengths all along, and how incredible she can be in quips and short sound bytes. Her listening ability is superior to anyone in our field and IMO it is not particularly close. She can form a response on the fly instead of canned garbage.

Only when it has been whittled to a smaller field have her strengths come to the forefront, but by this time there are already too many stubborn people who are insistent on backing someone with built-in general elections negatives. That describes basically everyone ahead of Amy.
