Sam Donaldson Makes Rare Democratic 2020 Presidential Endorsement

Sam Donaldson is all in for Michael Bloomberg.

The veteran ABC news anchor on Friday endorsed the billionaire media mogul’s run for president, telling CNN’s Anderson Cooper he believed Bloomberg was the “best-suited” Democratic candidate to take on Donald Trump in November.

Donaldson acknowledged how, as a working reporter in Washington for 52 years, he’d never given money to candidates or registered for a political party.

But times had changed and he now felt compelled to act because “we are in the grip” of a “sick, ignorant man,” Donaldson explained.

“He’s mean, he’s corrupt and if we don’t get this right, we may lose the things that have made this country the best place to live in the world and that shining city on the hill that Ronald Reagan used to talk about which was the envy of the world,” he added.

Donaldson later dismissed concerns that Bloomberg was attempting to buy the presidency, saying he wouldn’t be “beholden to anyone” because he’s putting his own money in, and played down the anger over the stop-and-frisk policing strategy that was used during Bloomberg’s time as New York mayor.

Trump was lying. He would never spend a dime of his own money if he didn't have to and he was and is beholden to Putin and probably the Saudis.

That Mike Bloomberg wanted to get guns off the streets.

Funny thing, Gregory Meeks just said the same thing and 3 Black Caucus members have endorsed Bloomberg.

Instead of listening to media hysteria we need to listen more to those who know!

particularly the ones they're not supporting.

That doesn't just go for critics of Bloomberg, but there's been a flood of posters who clearly know little about him other than stop-and-frisk and that he's a billionaire. It leads to some laughably false assertions.

He's not my favorite, but I think he's also not what many assert him to be. Or desperately want him to be now that he's competing with their candidates.

Of talking with Republicans to find out what they know. One actually argued the Senate was not a part of Congress. When I mentioned the 250 bills laying on McConnells desk he would not touch.
.
I sais several I was sure Trump would sign to make himself look good, Prescription drugs for one. They sneeringly asked me why PELOSI did not dump them on Trumps desk. Blaming her.

That shows they know nothing about Government. I even had to explain we have 3 branches of Government. Executive, jJudicial and Legislative.

And some of them seem to revel in their ignorance, rather than be embarrassed by it or attempt to overcome it.

Perhaps that was always the case, but it seems more prevalent with Trump leading the way. Maybe there are just more outlets for it now.
