of "crazies"... That HAS to be disconcerting to any candidate (other than Trump, of course, who depends on them).

OK should be capitalized because it's an acronym. Uncapitalized is never acceptable.
You need a comma before "too."

When using the word too, you only need to use a comma before it for emphasis. According to The Chicago Manual of Style, a comma before too should be used only to note an abrupt shift in thought.

The first sentence was you being all Grammar Nazi. The second sentence was about Obama having crazy supporters as well. That's a pretty quick shift in thought between two sentences. Hence, you need a comma before "too."

So, since they set the standard, I thought it would be good to let them know their shortcomings, too. I see you didn't respond to that first post of them mocking the typo? You probably should let them know that that was silly, too.

Or not. Whatever.

It's southern. In this context, with the internet standard dismissive response of "why don't you google it", it comes off as folksy patronizing. My interpretation of that other person's post was that they were questioning this tone, not correcting grammar. That's one reason I didn't comment.

Another reason is that it usually takes something pretty egregious for me to comment. I found that you insisting that your 38 years as an english teacher gave you the authority to tell somebody that lowercase ok was "never acceptable" and that you were doing it to promote effective communication met that bar.

20. So I learn something about idioms every day. Thanks for that.

I assumed it was a phone entry and just didn't delete the first of those two before deciding on the second. My bad. But that makes the response all the worse.

And I don't respond either. Basically never. Unless someone goes for someone's grammar as an ad hom. And everyone makes mistakes. My grammar on DU is often horrible, because I'm taking time when I have it to read and respond and am often not paying attention and rarely editing what I write.

And I think there is a time and a place for "you can google that." This seemed pretty much OK. They were just saying to look for this thing to see it. But I might be placing tone on that response since I initially responded to the person's attack on their grammar.

Thanks for the discussion, though. And for introducing me to a new regional idiom. Reminds me the first time I heard "do what?" in Kentucky.

Justin Smith, a 33-year-old campaign volunteer for Hillary Clinton in Charleston S.C., tattooed Clinton's portrait on his leg because Clinton has been his "hero for 23 years." (Thomas Johnson/The Washington Post)

As a general rule of thumb, tying tattoos to current events is a risky proposition. For every Jason Terry -- who tattooed a championship trophy on his bicep months before the Dallas Mavericks won the 2011 championship -- there are fans with incorrect inked predictions staining their skin.

Tattooing portraits of presidents is also a thing people do. You only have to run a quick image search to find hundreds of President Obama tattoos, with varying attention to detail. It's less common, however, to find tattoos of presidential candidates. There just aren't that many tattoos of Al Gore or John McCain out there. At least based on my 12-second Google search.

But that didn't deter 33-year-old Justin Smith, a campaign volunteer for Hillary Clinton. Smith explained that Clinton had been his "hero for 23 years," in between answering phones at the Hillary for 2016 campaign headquarters in Charleston, S.C.

But what if she loses the general election, or fails to win the nomination? Smith isn't worried. "Win, lose or draw, she will always be my hero," Smith said.

</snip>

Not for nothing, but that's a pretty-good likeness of her!
