What having a nominee able to spend his own money means to me.

1. Focusing my donations on down-ballot races for the House, Senate, and state legislatures.

2. Allowing the DNC and state parties to focus on GOTV instead of advertising.

3. The ability to match Trump and the Republicans 1 to 1 in digital advertising.

4. Fully staffed campaign offices in big, expensive states like Florida and Texas.

I know it's not as hip or romantic as living off $5 donations, but a national campaign needs serious dollars and I won't lose any sleep over a nominee who can reach into his own pocket and beat Trump.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

I also think of the flip side, what if Bloomberg was a Trump fan? He could do a lot of damage against Dems. I'm glad he's on our side.

I've also thought about a number of the points you've made. You've listed the obvious pros to having someone fund their own campaign but we also need to consider the cons and the precedence that could be set going forward. I'm sure you agree we need to get rid of citizen's united but I also think we should establish a campaign funding blueprint that can be applied across the board allowing all candidates a fair and equal platform for both parties.

Once we start it will be much harder to stop. I totally get what you're saying but we're not a very engaged citizenry 99% of the time so I doubt once that precedence is set we'll establish any real campaign reform. Just my personal opinion.

Sanders is doing pretty well in head to head polls with Trump. As are Biden and Bloomberg. Warren and Buttigieg actually perform the worst against him, at least in the polls I’ve seen. In any case, I’m sticking with Biden unless he drops out before my June primary.
