Tell me again how Bloomberg is the most electable?

I understand people think he's the best chance against Trump, even though I don't believe that in the slightest. Here he is belittling farmers:

?s=20

Pete
@PeterMentes
Bloomberg on why farmers can’t work in information technology

MB: “I can teach anyone how to be a farmer 1 dig a hole 2 put a seed in 3 put dirt on top 4 add water 5 up comes the corn”

The skill 4information technology is completely different you need more grey matter

#farmers

You don't have to tell me how much worse Trump has been and will be for farmers, I don't want Trump in there, either. I just don't think that replacing Trump with Bloomberg is going to be the best option, and there has been an avalanche of recent information that demonstrates it.
If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

we're going to find all kinds of dismissive comments from Bloomie about most people in the US electorate.

I spent a decade in the shadow of NYC, Bloomberg is a potential tyrant. I realize that it might be preferable to a majority of us here to replace the current tyrant, but it might not appear that way to a lot of voters in the mushy middle who think their 401Ks are doing just fine.

I still think it's a super bad take. Sue he seems to be talking about agrarian societies of antiquity vis a vis the plant a seed thing, but then says "I could teach that to anyone in this room." as though farming hasn't progressed with the advance of technology. The context only makes it -slightly- less bad, and when he talks about how progressive the marginal tax rate in the USA is without also talking about how the marginal tax rate is lower now than during periods of major growth (it topped 80% from the 40's to the 60's and is now sitting at under 40%), then I dunno what there is to defend here. He sounds like another rich guy telling poor people that rich people will save them.

He can afford to run a ton of ads, and he knows how to run a 2020 campaign - using social media, memes, etc. He isn't a nice person but he could win anyway. We'd trade one loud mouthed jerk for another, but I'd vote for him over trump.

primary today, I would vote for:

36. New trend on DU: Someone posts a quote of one of our candidates. The quote is taken

out of context and presented so that it completely lies about what the candidate was saying.

Dozens jump on agreeing with the lie.

Another Democratic candidate is smeared, ALL of us are hurt.

This is bullshit and you know it is.

For anyone who would like to see what he REALLY said, see post 20, with the quote in context.

It's dismissive. Also, as I said upthread, he's being super disingenuous about the marginal tax rate and also the bit about how making school cheaper makes it -harder- for poor people to get in is a well-trod right wing talking point.

He still made a joke belittling farmers. The context doesn't make it better.

40. He wasn't belittling anybody. He was talking about the simplicity

of planting corn for 3000 years. After that, he talked about the INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION. Then he brought up the Information Age. So you can see he wasn't talking about modern agricultural practices or modern farmers, certainly not in a context of job training for modern farmers. His whole point was that we haven't had a farming economy for hundreds of years.

they count on--that people aren't going to dig up the clip on their own, because I had to search for it and then wade through an hour long presentation. I'm actually an Amy person for now, but am also considering Bloomberg, and want the truth and not what's being spread around as a take-down.

He is talking about the fact that jobs were available in the agrarian society "that lasted 3000 years," and he described farming in an agrarian society as a labor based process. Then he contrasted that to our technological society where jobs are disappearing.

Then why the jab that he could teach it to everyone in the room? Why's he talking about how lowering the cost of education hurts poor people? Why is he talking about how progressive the marginal tax rate is when the top marginal tax rates are lower now than they have been since the 40's?

I get what you're saying he was trying to say, but what he said was the flyover states are stupid.

That was the context immediately before the clip in question. Is it irrelevant?

Also "you need the context" is a derailing tactic.

Scroll through his feed and it's full of false cherry picks like the OP and smears against other Dems like for instance, Klobuchar- he thinks she's a racist... The OP source isn't legit and is a Democratic Party smear page.
